My husband works from home most days, but when he has to go out and visit a client or install a new phone system, he needs a bunch of equipment with him, and that usually means several trips from the second floor (where his office is set up) to the car. That usually translates into several trips up and down the stairs.
I, on the other hand, love DIY projects. As you can imagine, that often means moving things around and carrying stuff—including several bags of dirt (I will tell you all about that project later).
A Solution to Many Problems
I decided to ask my dear friend Google for possible solutions to both our dilemmas. While I found many different carts and lifting devices that would probably work for me, they did not solve the stairs issue—most of these carts can’t really go up the stairs (not easily, anyway).
What I needed was a lightweight, compact, foldable, easy-to-use cart that wouldn’t take up too much space in the trunk and that could actually help my husband take things up and down the stairs and not damage my floors in the process!
I was about to give up when I came across UpCart. You could say I was asking for too much in one cart, and I was starting to believe that myself when I found the UpCart line and their Hero dolly.
My list of requirements:
- Lightweight
- Easy to use
- Compact
- Able to climb up the stairs
This little cart was a DIYer’s dream come true!
I saw some videos of the cart in use and was really impressed. But I am one of those people who like to try things for themselves, and when I did, I was certainly not disappointed. The UpCart Hero is exactly what I was looking for and then some!
The cart is really sturdy yet very lightweight—it can be easily picked up and carried with one hand. And the design is unlike anything I have seen in a cart before.
The UpCart Hero stair-climbing dolly combines an all-terrain three-wheel chassis with a folding hand cart.
This unique design makes it easy to bring home the groceries or haul a piece of furniture (or dirtbags, in my case). As for the husband, he finds that the cart works wonderfully for transporting things up and down the stairs!
The UpCart Hero is the first-ever hand cart to offer a lifetime warranty.
Love This Cart
I was amazed at how the UpCart improves stability, is capable of moving over irregular terrain, and is easy it is to use. So far, we use it for more activities than I ever expected and add new ones every day.
The cart is kept in the trunk, so it is always within reach when we needed it. It is one of the best utility tools we own.
Even Better?
While I was sure there was no way to make this super handy cart even better, I was proven wrong. You have the option to add a couple of accessories, such as the UpCart tote bag. This custom-fitted, high-quality bag can be easily added to your UpCart Hero for even more carrying options.
Made of abrasion-resistant Cordura nylon, the bag can haul up to 12 gallons of items. Because not everything has to be heavy to be inconvenient, I use the cart and bag to bring the laundry up and down the stairs.
The UpCart Hero is one of the top items in my Holiday Gift Guide this year and a great option for any adult on your list!

What an amazing company. I also like the UpCart® Upgrade Bag . Made from durable, abrasion-resistant Cordura nylon, carry capacity of 12 gallons and expanded capacity of 20 gallons. Easy to customized to your needs.
This looks neat! Id use mine for carrying bulk items we frequently buy for the church. it would also be nice for regular groceries. on their site they also have the great bungee which would be helpful for wheeling multiple packages.
I would like to try the Fold-a-crate. That would be very handy to keep in the trunk of my car. Would love to have the UpCart to carry groceries and heavy packages up the 15 steps going up to my apartment. Sure would save trips up and down them and help when something is too heavy for me.
I also like Versa. Thank you
I really like the UpCart Pro Shopper that would be great for my grandmother as she enjoys going to huge flea markets.
I really like the Upcart Lift. Its capable of moving 200 lb!! It would be great for moving furniture up the stairs.
I would find each of the UpCarts. However the UpCart Lift would be so convenient! I could. move furniture, appliances, so many things without ever needing to beg for help! 🙂 Thank you.
I like The UpCart Accessory Bundle. It has the UpGrade Bag which expands and has removable shoulder strap. It also has the Good Bungee which has flat straps. Plus the third item in the bundle is the Fold-A-Crate which folds flat and is easy to store. I also like other ways to secure items to the UpCart: The Great Bungee with customized lengths & tension plus The UpCart Strap which has 4 adjustable straps. These make it easy to keep things organized on the UpCart and to not leave a trail of stuff behind.
I would like to try the UpCart Lift would be great getting things up the front porch steps or up from the basement.
I would like to have the UpCart® Hero & Bag Combo I store a lot of my holiday decorations down in my basement . The older I get the harder it is to make the many trips up and down the stairs to gather up one by one my decorations to bring upstairs . With an UpCart I could move may decorations in one trip up th stairs and it would be less taxing on me because UpCart would be doing all the work!
Another UpCart product I would like is their UpCart® Pro Shopper. My husband and I are no longer spring chickens and I took a tumble just last week carrying groceries up the steps to our home. It was a scary moment for both of us. The UpCart carts wouldn’t only make moving things easier but safer too!
I would like to try the Upcart Lift as well. I just moved to a house on 5 acres by myself and boy, do I need one of these! I have to drag 40 lb salt bags all the way to my well and it is difficult! Hauling other things around the property would be a breeze with this!
