If you have been following my blog, then you know I have been struggling with my weight for years.

It all started with my first pregnancy and my hyperemesis which kept me bedridden and medicated for 90 % of my pregnancy and contributed to me going from 110 pounds to 165. It literally took years for me to get rid of the extra weight but I finally did it…I got pregnant with my son and had hyperemesis again.

hyperemesis gravidarum

Many pregnant women have morning sickness, no surprise there, what I did not know going into my first pregnancy, I was one the less than 3% of pregnant women to get hyperemesis gravidarum.
A simple way to describe it is a very severe case of morning sickness and about as much fun as it sounds.

There is no cure or way to prevent it and while it usually strikes between the 4th and 6th weeks, mine started sooner.

When you have hyperemesis, you vomit a lot and by a lot I mean I could not keep anything down. I was one of the severe cases and was vomiting constantly.

To prevent dehydration and keep the babies healthy, I had home health care and was hooked up to an IV and pump and with my son, I even had to have a pic line.

Doctors don’t know what causes hyperemesis, but they believe it’s related to a rise in hormone levels…Yep, lots of fun! Since I could barely move, I had no exercise during my pregnancy plus I had all kinds of vitamins and medications through my IV and pump.

Needless to say, I gained a few pounds and at my whooping 5’1’’ any weight looks like a lot, but to be fair, I did gain over 50 pounds, so you can imagine.

The second time around I was determined not to wait to try to get the weight off and have been yoyoing with my weight for the last couple of years.

I had liposuction which was not my brightest idea and still had to lose weight!

At that moment, my weight hit 144.4 while my ideal weight is around 115 pounds, due to my height.

One thing I was clear about was the reasons I wanted to lose weight

I wanted to do it for me, to improve my self-esteem, to be healthier for my kids, and for a healthier me.
