It is hurricane season and we are getting a lot of rain here in South Florida and with a 2 years old and a 10 year old that are both very active, well the confinement can be challenging especially if you want to keep them away from the TV and electronics.
The truth is, the kids have an incredible amount of energy that has to be channeled in positive ways to avoid meltdowns and all the fun stuff that comes with energetic kids when they can not burn some of that fuel that ignites them.
I like my kids to move and exercise as much as possible and as a parent, I have to find alternative solutions to keep them active even when the weather is not cooperating.
The right tools
There is a big age gap (8 years) between my kids and I need to find different activities to keep both of them active and out of trouble.
The little guy LOVES throwing things and a game that involves throwing and keep him engaged is the perfect indoors activity for him.
Why I like the Little Tikes Light ‘n Go 3-in-1 Sports Zone Age: 12-36 months
The set features 3 different games in one and your little one can practice his basketball, bowling, and soccer skills…My 10 year old has played soccer since she was 5 and her little brother has been around soccer since before he was born and loves kicking the ball around.
This indoor activity game allows him to practice kicking the ball without the possibility of the ball breaking something in the condo.
Because he is a boy and boys (and yes girls), love basketball, the adjustable basketball hoop is a great indoor activity. To make the dunking even more fun, the backboard lights up and has over 75 encouraging sounds that your kids will love every time they score a basket!
Complete the game circuit with another favorite indoor activity and introduce them to bowling!
The kids will love this set and it can keep them busy and moving for quite a while…One of momma’s favorite features? It folds, so it can be stored when not in use…That makes it great for people like me with limited living and storage space.
For the sister
I have always said that my daughter has a real hard time standing still and I have been asking her to tell me where her off button is since she was able to speak, so far, no luck…I can’t find the switch, so the next best thing are activities that allow her to move for which she has played soccer since the age of 5.
What happens when the soccer games or practices are cancelled because of weather?
I end up with a hyperactive 10 year old locked in the condo…Not good.
An indoor activity for her?
It is even more tricky than it is with the brother and again there is the space limitation…I have found the Little Tikes Pogo-It is a great way to get her to exercise when we are home!
The game is very engaging and combines sports and interactive gaming to keep your kids engaged and going for more.
With different levels to master, the Pogo it can be used for kids from ages 4 through 10.
The perfect indoor activity for one or more players
Because there are different levels and because your kids can challenge each other, this is a great game for one or multiple player even with different skill levels.
One word of advice, if you live in a condo like me, you might want to find a spot where kids jumping will not drive your neighbors crazy because if you get them a Pogo it…there will be a lot of jumping and laughter involved!
It is compact and can also be used outdoors…Love it.
