Placing your baby on her or his stomach (Only when they are awake and supervised) is fundamental for your babies muscle development, especially the neck and shoulders. As an individual, your baby will have specific needs that you will have to observe in order to make tummy time enjoyable. Please note that it is never a good idea to start with tummy time right after feeding or if your baby is fussy or uncomfortable.
Love or hate it
Some babies love the tummy time and others do not so make sure to make tummy time a fun time. Babies love textures and colors but it is not until they turn 5 months old can they really see colors other than black and white along with some shades of gray. It is a good idea to look for a baby mat that has different colors so they grow with your baby and can be enjoyed by your little one once he or she is able to appreciate the colors.
