While the Lenovo brand came into existence only in 2004, the company has a much longer history. In 1984, Legend Holdings was formed with 25,000 RMB in a guard house in China. The company was incorporated in Hong Kong in 1988 and would grow to be the largest PC Company in China. Legend Holdings changed its name to Lenovo in 2004 and, in 2005, acquired the former Personal Computer Division of IBM, the company that invented the PC industry in 1981.

I have wanted to work with the brand for a while now and they have recently agreed to send me a product to review for the Born 2 Impress Tech event and for that purpose, I received the Lenovo Speaker M220. The laptop square shaped speakers are really compact and portable which makes them great for on the go and the office.

The speakers deliver a nice quality sound and while you are not going to get disco loud performance, the speakers do work nicely with movies and videos for your desktop or notebook computer. The design is both modern and stylish so it should blend with your office or home set up easily.

Setting up the speakers is as simple as can be; all you need to do is to plug the green speaker plug into the matching spot on the computer and plug in the USB plug to your computer (as that is what provides it with its power). It is very easy and you do not have to be computer savvy to add these little speakers to your laptop …We had a movies night for the kids and we had a projector to play a movie streaming from DH’S laptop, but needed a better sound outlet than just the laptop speakers and the Lenovo Speaker M220 worked great for this.

I will recommend the speakers for a work presentation or any activity where you are looking for a better sound performance than what you will get from your laptop, but while you can adjust the volume with a back circular dial on the back of the speakers …The sound that you will get from it is not blasting loud, but rather a really nice enhancement to your laptop sound system. It’s a great value for the price (retails for 29.99 at the Lenovo store)and certainly a nice addition to your laptop.
