School is definitely the most probable place for your kids to get lice and this year it is particularly bad because lice have come back with a vengeance this school year. As you might have heard in the news, there is a new generation of lice out there.
Lice this year had been called super lice as these bugs are resistant to traditional lice treatment…Scary right? Lice was already a pain to get rid of and with this new “bread “ of super bugs, it is just a nightmare.
I had lice when I was in school and I remember the embarrassment and the stigma these little creatures can create so I have made it a point to prevent my daughter from getting lice.
Here is where the Rosemary Repel Lice Prevention Products from Fairy Tales Hair Care come in to play.
Rosemary Repel Lice Prevention Products from Fairy Tales Hair Care are designed to keep your kids lice free with a special formulation containing organic Rosemary, Citronella, Tea Tree and Geranium oils which are clinically proven effective to help prevent lice.
The anti-lice treatment consists of a few different steps. You can choose the product that best works for you. I received three of these products:
Rosemary Repel® Shampoo:
Has ingredients like Jojoba, Sugar Cane and Chamomile hydrate and it is gentile enough that it can be used on a daily basis. Actually, it does a really nice job with my daughter’s hair. I was afraid that it would leave her hair lifeless and dull, but the truth is that it actually does a great job with my daughter’s sometimes hard to control hair.
The shampoo is not too thick or watery, so it is easy to apply and goes on the hair very nicely. The Rosemary scent is the predominant scent on the shampoo, well actually in all of their products, so if you like Rosemary, you will love this lice prevention product line.
Rosemary Repel® Shampoo has a retail price of $12.99 for the 12oz bottle
Rosemary Repel® Creme Conditioner:
features a rich formula that includes a blend of organic Rosemary, Citronella, Tea Tree, along with Geranium oils that like the shampoo are ingredients proven to prevent lice.
The conditioner also has Passion Flower, Cherry Bark and Jojoba (love anything with Jojoba in it) and does a great job detangling my daughter’s hair making it easier to manage and control.
The Rosemary Repel® Creme Conditioner has a retail price of $12.99 for the 8oz bottle.
Also to prevent lice, they sent me the Rosemary Repel® Hair Spray:
Like the other two products from the line, the hair spray has organic Rosemary, Citronella, the hair spray and in addition, you will find Geranium and Sage and yes, these are proven to prevent lice.
The hair spray is the last step in this lice prevention process and it also one final shield against these creatures.
The hair spray is a lightweight formula that leaves no residue or build up so it does not feel sticky on my daughter’s hair.
Like the shampoo and conditioner, the hair spray is Free of sulfates, harsh chemicals and toxins.
The Rosemary Repel® Hair Spray has a retail price of $12.95 for the 8oz bottle.
And if somehow the lice made it to your home before you were able to protect your family with the Rosemary Repel Lice Prevention Products from Fairy Tales Hair Care, the brand also carries a “Lice Goodbye Line” including a Terminator Nit-Free Comb to get rid of the nits ( eggs).
The Terminator Nit-Free Comb features Micro-grooved teeth that allows for better removal of even the tiniest nit as they get swept away by the stainless steel long micro-grooved teeth with rounded edges to protect the scalp!
The Terminator Nit-Free comb has a retail price of $10.95.

I had a little Q&A with Lice expert Risa Barash all you ever wanted or needed to know about lice!
Risa Barash, Founder of Fairy Tales Hair Care
What are lice?
Lice are small, six legged insects about the size of a sesame seed. They are grayish, whitish brown and can be found directly on the scalp. They need human blood to survive and can live for 30 days on your scalp. They are not dangerous, but bothersome. Common symptoms including itching, irritation and small red bumps. Lice infest regardless of social status and personal hygiene. They like CLEAN hair not dirty, as it’s easier to attach to an uncoated hair shaft.
How do I get them?
Lice are mostly spread through head-to-head contact. Lice infest children more than adults because they have more physical contact at that age.
Lice can survive up to 36 hours off the human head on clothing and other personal items such as hats, helmets, brushes, combs, hair ties, towels and head phones. They do not fly or jump. They crawl. Lice can also survive in water as they go into a state of suspended animation. Chlorine does not kill them. Pets do not carry the same type of head lice as children.
How fast do they reproduce?
Most of the eggs hatch within 7 to 11 days. To survive, a newly hatched louse must have a blood meal within minutes of birth. Developing lice, or nymphs, take about 7 to 10 days to mature; after an additional day, adult females start laying eggs.
How long do they live?
They can live for can live for 30 days on your scalp and up to 36 hours off the human head on clothing and other personal items such as hats, helmets, brushes, combs, hair ties, towels and head phones.
Who is more likely to get them?
Lice infest children more than adults because they have more physical contact at that age. But anyone can get lice! It’s a good idea to check the entire family.
How can I avoid getting them?
Here are four simple tips for preventing head lice:
Tip #1 Teach + Practice Good Habits. Teach children not to share hats, combs, brushes, hair ties, pillows, sleeping bags, etc. as lice can survive up to 36 hours off the head. Going to a princess party? Wipe down the tiara first! Also, never share helmets or caps at sporting events.
Tip #2 Space It Out. At after school daycares or summer camps make sure to store jackets, backpacks and hats in separate cubbies or in a sealed bag. It’s also important to teach kids not to share their matt or pillow at night or during naptime.
Tip #3 Early Actions. Use lice prevention hair care products every day! Organic herbs such as rosemary, tea tree and citronella found in Fairy Tales Rosemary Repel® Shampoo & Conditioning Spray are proven safe, and effective ways to help repel lice. Regular head checks can also help break the cycle of infestation at home and school.
Tip #4 Safe, Natural & Effective Treatment. If you notice signs of itching or know there is an outbreak, the best method for identifying lice or nits is to use the Fairy Tales Lice Good-Bye® Survival Kit. The all-inclusive kit is the next generation of lice elimination as it naturally and effectively removes lice and their eggs (nits). No chemicals or pesticides are used, and there’s no waiting time between treatments!
What is these new type of lice?
They’re being called “super lice” for begin resistant to most over the counter chemical treatments but there are other natural solutions to remove and prevent head lice. Fairy Tales Hair Care uses natural oils like rosemary, citronella to dissolve the glue, removing head lice and their eggs naturally — without harsh chemicals or pesticides!

Tangles seem to be something in my family. The super charge detangling shampoo or conditioner looks like a wonderful item. No more crying when combing thru the hair.
The Sun & Swim to remove sea salt & pool chemicals would be great for Summer! Last year, my youngest nephew was scratching his head just before bed time. Yep, it was lice! Nightmare! And my brother, his dad, had to run out at night to find something to use on it! Fortunately, since he was a boy, they just did the buzz cut, too. It seems likely he got it at baseball practice, where the kids were sharing batting helmets.
I wold like to try the Rosemary Repel shampoo and conditioner. My older girls had lice once and it was a nightmare! I would not want it for my little one. It’s terrible to go through!
I totally need this for my little girl, she has so much hair and lice freaks me out!! so gross!! I would also love to try the staic free detangler spray, I haven’t found a good one yet.
I would like to try the lemon-aid conditioner. We have daily battles on doing hair. I think this would help.
The Rosemary Repel combo sounds great for my daughter who is a lice magnet. However another item I want to try is the Sun & Swim Coco Cabana spray. We go to Guatemala and hang out on the beach alot during the summer and my hair gets dried out quickly and so does my daughter’s. This would be great for our beach bag to have on hand.
My daughter has had lice 5 or 6 times. It’s awful, and makes the whole family itch. Nobody else in the family has gotten it. It was new to me, as even as I child I had never gotten them. Takes a lot of time and energy to get rid of them.
I would like to try the detangler, as my daughter gets older, the more knotty her and my hair gets! We have not had lice yet at home, but good ot be prepared.
I would like to try the Bug Bandit. Sounds like a great product to help repell the mosquitoes! We have not had lice yet at home, but we are prepared for it.
I would like to try the Rosemary Repel® Hair Spray. A few years ago my daughter got lice over the summer from the Dr’s office it was the only place we had been. She has long thick naturally curly hair. I picked nits for what felt like years. Now I make sure her hair is up in a bun when we go to any waiting room.
I would love to try the Rosemary Repel® Lice Prevention. We have no preventive measures & have never found until this blog. With 3 kids in school, I am always combing & picking to make sure my kids don’t have another bout w/ this irritating issue.
Another product that I would like to try from the Fairy Tales company is their Bug Bandit spray. I love to let the kids play outside but I hate spraying them with so many chemicals. We have had a couple run ins with lice since they started school, which seems (or so I’ve been told) to be the norm when so many kids are all packed in tight. It doesn’t help that my girl is a hugger 🙂
I would love to try No More Knots. My daughter has such long hair and we are always coming thru knots this would be perfect for her
i would like to try the no more knots we are curly headed and knots are an issue
I’d like to try the Rosemary Repel. We’ve never had lice (knock wood!) but there are periodic breakouts in the kids’ classes. I’d rather not have to deal with it, if I can avoid it! Plus, hey, rosemary smells great.
I would like the Rosemary Repel. We have had lice once and hopefully never again. I would love to be prepared though just in case.
I would love to try the detangler. I have two daughters that love experimenting with braiding, curling, etc. This often times leaves their hair very knotted and tangled. I would like to help get the knots out without being the bad guy with the brush, that pulls their hair lol.
I like the Static-Free Detangling Spray. I think that could help. I also like the CoCo Cabana Spray. I think that these would be nice to have!
I would like to try the Lemon-Aid Conditioner. When we go to the beach it is salt water and can really take a toll on hair. We have not had any problem with hair lice so far but with a new school year I am crossing my fingers.
Yes last year a few times.my daughter got it from school.i also like the CoCo Cabana Spray as well.looks like a great product to try
