Spring break is fast approaching and if you are planning on taking your family on a little getaway, planning ahead is the secret to a stress-free vacation.

Kid-friendly destinations

If this vacation includes kids, then make sure your chosen destination is kid-friendly and have plenty of choices for your kids. Do some research to make sure it is what you want for your family and that is, in fact, something that all family members will enjoy. Find out about amenities, activities, and even a babysitting service ahead of time to avoid any unwanted surprises.

International travel

If you chose to leave the country for Spring break, check all passports and required travel documents ahead of time. Verify if there are any health concerns with the place you are visiting and if there are any vaccinations needed.

If you are visiting some of the Caribbean islands, Zika and Dengue transmitting mosquitoes are a big concern, bring plenty of mosquito repellent and protection for the whole family.

Tap water is not drinkable in many places, make sure you are informed about potable water and pass the information on to all family members.

Learn about currency, safety, and even communication, some US phone companies offer free text and data to many of the Caribbean islands. It is a good idea to know what your phone company offers in case you need to be connected at any given time.

You will need to pay a fee when visiting some of these countries and some, if not all, need to be paid in cash. Make sure you have this information on hand to make your customs experience as pain-free as possible.

Dress accordingly

Keep in mind that if you are traveling by plane, you will need to go through customs. You and all family members will be required to take off their shoes, and place computers on a tray. Make sure the computers are easy to access and store away and wear easy to remove shoes for a speedy customs line experience.

Remove any jewelry or accessories before going through the scanner to avoid setting it off. Also, it will prevent you from leaving any items behind if beforehand, you can remove and store them away so there is no chance you will forget them in the tray.

Bring the right gear

Having the right gear with you can make a huge difference, especially if you are traveling with small children.

On the plane

Do not forget to bring headphones for the kids…Keeping them entertained during the flight make the difference between a nightmare or a pleasant flying experience.

Bring along snacks, some airlines do not offer any in-flight snacks and if they do, they might not be your kid’s cup of tea, so having your own stash is always a good idea.
Remember, little things can make a big difference when you are traveling, so make a list of everything you think is important during the trip.

Kids flight safe

A must-have for any parent of a child, these easy to store, compact and light safety harnesses for airplane rides, make a huge difference, not only for the kids but for the parents.
