Ladies, let’s face it, men suffer from a condition known as underdresseditis. It’s a chronic problem that means they constantly underdress for every event you go to as a couple. Whether it’s a family gathering, a work party, or anything else – they always turn up in casual/scruffy clothing.

You spend a lot of time and effort getting ready for these events, ensuring that you look the part. Then, your partner turns up and they are in very relaxed clothing; the sort of thing they wear around the house anyway. It’s not totally their fault – not everyone is born with a fashion sense – but it gets to the point where it can be pretty annoying.

Now, the holiday season is nearly upon us, meaning you will have all sorts of >celebrations and parties to attend. A lot of these will have dress codes, so you need to ensure your man isn’t underdressed for once. Here are some helpful tips that’ll ensure both of you are on the same fashion page:

Buy your outfits together

If you are attending an event together, you should coordinate your outfits. It sounds so simple when you say it out loud, yet we always buy our outfits separately. You go off and do your thing, putting blind faith in your man to do the same.

Instead, arrange to go shopping together. Or, you can do it online, but actually sit together and plan your outfits. It’s a chance to ensure your partner is getting the right clothing for this particular event. At the same time, it allows you to >coordinate your outfits perfectly, so you go superbly together. For once, you will turn up at a party looking equally fabulous, with his outfit being the perfect accompaniment to yours.

It’s a simple idea, yet it guarantees that your man doesn’t turn up underdressed. This also gives you a funny insight into how they view dress codes. You’ll be amazed at what some men consider “smart” clothing to look like. Here, you have a chance to educate them a bit on style and fashion – which I’m suuuure they’ll greatly appreciate.

Get them a pair (or two) of smart shoes

I would say the biggest issue is that most men don’t have appropriate footwear for nice events. Sure, they have like five different pairs of sneakers, each one a bit grubbier and more worn than the last. They’re comfortable shoes for daily use, but they won’t cut it at a party or celebration. Some men will even buy “smart” sneakers, claiming that they’re suitable because they’re from a big brand like Adidas.

Realistically, their footwear can make the entire outfit look worse. If you’re wearing heels or some of your nicest shoes, they need to follow suit. Get them a couple of pairs of nice shoes that are versatile enough to go with different smart outfits. Things like >Aldens men’s shoes are great as you can get different designs to suit different outfits. They’ll have some suit shoes for very fancy events, and some other shoes to pair with smart jeans or chinos if you need to dress more smart/casual.

Check their outfit a few hours before you leave

Okay, at this point, you have bought outfits together, and your man has some nice shoes, so everything should be fine, right?

Well, not always. Sometimes, your man could have a great outfit, but they still look underdressed because of how everything is styled. We’re talking about the way they’re wearing certain items, but also the state of their clothing. If you bought them some nice trousers and a shirt a few weeks ago, but they’ve been folded in the closet since then, everything will be creased. It looks embarrassing if they show up in creased clothing while you’re looking your best.

So, this is why you check the outfit a few hours before you leave. It’s a chance for them to iron their clothes, get rid of creases, and ensure everything is perfect. Then, you can style their clothes to help them wear everything correctly. The end result is a man who finally matches your appearance!

An underdressed man is as common as the sunrise. The reason this is a big deal is that it can make you >feel overdressed when you go to parties. You’ve put in a lot of effort, and then your partner just rocks up looking like they picked the first items of clothing they could find. When you are both on the same page, it makes you feel so much better. Plus, you’ll look utterly gorgeous together!
