I received some Sugar Twists hair ties to facilitate this review. I was not financially compensated for this post. My opinions are my own and not by any means influenced by any other part.
I used to have really long hair until I was in college. My hair was very long…so long at times, that I would have to pull it up just so I wouldn’t sit on it. It was my mom’s thing ( she had always had long hair and still does), I on the other hand, liked experimenting with my hair and getting different hair styles and colors, so I go from short to long with no problem at all. One thing I do know for sure, is that I can’t stand having hair on my face, so if I have long enough hair, it is in a ponytail unless I am going out.
Traditional hair ties leave a mark and have actually created a weird wave on my hair, so I try to avoid them, but then again I can’t stand my hair in my face. And then there is my daughter with her long curly hair. She loves her manes loose and free, but whenever she goes to school with her hair down, brushing it is a nightmare the next day.
Not your traditional hair tie
A few days ago I was asked to do a review on a new brand of hair ties and I have to say I have never seen a hair tie quite like the Sugar Twists hair ties by Milk and Sass.
What makes the Sugar Twists stand apart from any other hair ties I have tried before? Well, let’s start with the fact that these very unusual hair ties are made of a material that looks a lot like a little key ring… that resemble a phone cord.
I have to say I had my doubts when I saw the product and didn’t think it would stay on my thin short hair, but to my surprise these little fun hair ties deliver…I get a nice, long lasting hold, not too tight and still comfortable…the shorter hair does come out of the hair tie, but to be honest I get that from the traditional hair ties also.
Why Sugar Twists is different
The difference is that the traditional hair ties usually end up breaking my hair and leaving a weird looking wave on my hair which seems not to be the case with the Sugar Twist hair ties, but the really good news is that it work’s really good on my daughter’s hair. This is not the case with the traditional hair ties as she comes back home with her hair still in a ponytail which I must say is very impressive!
I took two photos of the way her hair looks when I just put her hair up and another one (different days), of the way it looks when I pick her up from school some 10 hours later.
In addition to the comfort, the Sugar Twists hair ties do not seem to be damaging either her hair or mine. I must say that it can be a little tricky to take the hair tie out of her hair sometimes, but other than that, I really like the Sugar Twists hair ties!
Sugar Twists gives back
For the month of October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, they just launched a package called “Candy for a Cause,” where a portion of proceeds will be donated to this worthy cause. Additionally, they’re having a social media campaign and for every person who uploads/shares a photo with the hashtag #CandyForACause, the brand is donating $1 per photo to Susan G. Komen.
