I understand that the holidays are a time to relax and enjoy with the friends and family, but that does not mean that kids cannot use this time to learn and improve their skills.

My daughter is quite smart and, unlike mommy, very good at math. But when it comes to reading, she is always putting it off and tries to do the bare minimum.

As a parent, it’s my job to inspire her to dig dipper and find ways to ignite her interest in reading. So this holiday season she is getting a new book with a selection of subjects that I know for a fact interest her. I can get her to practice her reading, learn, and have fun all at the same time.

I have put together a compilation of nonfiction books for kids to revamp her library.

Outdoors –

books for kids. kid's books

She loves outdoor activities and is always asking for things to do outside. I have come across a great nonfiction book for kids titled 101 Things To Do Outside. It tells kids about all the fun activities they can do and that includes game activities and even crafts for kids of different age groups.

The book shows a lot of activities that your kids will have a blast doing, help you find things to do with the kids outside, and more importantly, inspire them to read and learn all the 101 things to do outside!

She can now read the different activities and pick the ones she likes best…Which is probably all of them!

For the weekend:

Weekendtivity –

nonfiction books for kids

This is a colorful nonfiction book for kids  and parents featuring 25 screen -free activities to keep her busy and away from her computer all weekend long.

My daughter loves crafts and this book is perfect because she can practice her reading when following the instructions for the different activities. She will also get to work on some really fun projects that she can create by herself, with her friends, or with mom and dad.

This book, is not only fun for her but for me as well. I love some of the easy and quick projects included in the book!

This is a great book for kid’s play dates or even a craft theme birthday party.

For the crafty kids –

washi tape. nonfiction books, kids books

Because I want to spark and improve a lot more than her reading skills, the Washi Tape – 101 + ideas for paper crafts, book arts, fashion, decorating, entertaining, and party fun is another book that is ideal for both of us.

She is very curious and constantly getting in trouble because she wants to mix different things and see what comes out…so she goes through all my shower gel, shampoo, and even toothpaste in no time at all.

By giving her a book like this, she can explore and create without ruining my floors. I think of it as damage control that is actually lots of fun. It allows her to explore her creative side and of course practice her reading which is my main objective.

The Stitching with Jane Foster book features a fun book with 37 quick and easy cross-stitching sewing cards that allow kids to create their own unique stitching patterns and color combinations.

These activities require a bit more concentration and discipline which are always good to get kids started with.

Another great play date activity book and of course is perfect for mom and her projects.

Both my kids love animals so it just seemed right to include a fun fact animal book to her library!

50 Wacky Things Animal Do –

animal book, kids books

My daughter is all about facts and this supper entertaining nonfiction book is loaded with weird and amazing animal facts…One of the big issues I have with her is to get her to read out loud. This kids book is filled with facts that she will love to learn and share about different animals and a great source to learn more about many different animals from around the globe.

This is a fun learning experience that your kids will love to share with friends and family. One of these books can easily become a big favorite for your kids and even parents.
