If you’ve just landed a new job in the big city, then congratulations. Whether you’re trading in a long commute or making a big life leap, the next big decision is where are you going to live? Urban living has its quirks, and city living especially is new for anybody who’s only ever fringed on the suburbs.

There’s a reason that so many people swear by apartment life in the city, and if you’re on the fence about whether you should embrace it, then we’ve got a whole good list of solid reasons why moving to an apartment in the city is not just convenient, but actually a great idea.

  1. It’s convenient to be close to everything. You could walk to work, you could stop by your favorite cafe on the way, you could swing by the grocery store on the way home, and you can do all of this without having to find any parking. Living in a central spot such as The Avenue District luxury apartments, steps from the action no matter what. You’re not just cutting down on the commute, you’re gaining back your time. Instead of any traffic stress, you’re going to have lunch breaks in the park, post yoga down the block, and spontaneous nights out without even needing to plan an Uber.
  2. Low maintenance, which means low stress. You can say goodbye to mowing the lawn or fixing the roof, or having to pull 5 contractors to fix a leaky pipe. Apartment living means someone else handles all of the maintenance and most buildings have on site management that will take care of any issues in the same day. This means that you can focus on settling into your new job, not arguing with a thermostat that won’t behave.
  3. You can use your space differently. City apartments are often designed with efficiency in mind, which means open layouts, smart storage, and multi functional features that are standard. You’d be very surprised at how easily you can live large in a smaller space, especially when you’re not hoarding 3 broken vacuums just in case. Plus, downsizing can be refreshing. It’s a chance to really declass our start fresh and only keep what you need. You get to design a space that truly works for how you live now.
  4. There are built in community perks. Most urban apartments offer way more than just a roof over your head. The buildings themselves offer rooftop decks, fitness centres, lounges and Co working spaces. You might even find a spa in your building or a pool. These amenities make your building feel like a mini community because you’ll see the same faces all the time. When you’re new to the city and you’re moving from work, that sense of built in community is a bonus. You may meet your next best friend while doing laundry or grab a workout buddy from the gym downstairs.
  5. You get to be in the buzz of the city. There is something magnetic about city life. The live music from the bar around the corner, the smell of street food wafting through the window, or the view of the skyline from the balcony are all big pluses. Being in the city puts you in the centre of the story and you don’t have to go too far to find something inspiring. You just need to go outside.
