Do you have a toddler at home? Are you Potty training or getting ready to? Potty training can be stressful for both kids and parents, so the key is to follow a few simple pointers to make the experience as smooth as possible for both parties.
The key is to make it fun and get your child motivated about wearing underwear as it will make the whole process easier and less stressful if you get your little one excited about this new milestone…He gets to wear the big boy underwear now!
Keep in mind that this is a new process and as with anything that your child or anyone for that matter, is doing for the first time, it will take a bit of time to get used to and you will need to be patient…Pushing him will make the potty training process not fun and that is the last thing you want.
Do not try to start the potty training before he is ready as that will not only make him upset and frustrated , but by rushing him, you might be setting back any progress you might have achieved. So look for signs that let you know he is ready to start potty training like signaling to you before they go in their diaper, or maybe he is showing interest to see what goes on in the bathroom, or maybe he just wants to start using the potty …. These are some of the different signs that will let you know your little one is ready to start potty training.
Once we have established he is ready, try to help him figure out the next steps. He needs to be able to realize when he wants to go and what the steps are to take when he does… For example, how to get to the bathroom and also how to get themselves onto the potty. Please keep in mind that they might need assistance getting onto the potty and might need a little step stool so they can feel like they are able to get this accomplished their self… Remember all kids do not learn at the same pace and that is OK.
Get him excited about using training pants which are a great way to ease into the underwear training process and a wonderful way to get your little one ones used to underwear with the benefits of a diaper. I recommend Pampers Easy Ups as they fit and feel a lot like underwear while still giving children amazing leak protection day and night, and of course, they also support the concept of pulling underwear up and down.
Fortunately for parents that are going or getting ready to go through the potty training process, Pampers is launching one of the biggest innovations in training pants in years: The new and improved Pampers® Easy Ups™ Training Underwear – a product designed to help little ones and their families during their “Underwear Training” journey. Not to mention that it makes both parents and kids life easier.
What makes them so great? The new Pampers Easy Ups look, fit and feel like real underwear while providing the leak protection you’d expect from Pampers. Little ones will think it’s underwear, but you’ll know it’s Pampers, so it is what I call a win – win situation. These new training pants which are of course available for boys and girls, come adorned with cute characters that your kids already love like Thomas the train and Dora the Explorer.
• In a recent survey, Pampers found that almost all (93%) parents who use training pants for their child think it’s important for training pants to feel more like underwear and one third (34%) of parents wish their child’s training pants didn’t leak so often.
• New Pampers Easy Ups have a 360° stretchy waistband for an underwear-like fit that’s easy for your toddler to pull up and down. Easy Ups are super soft, like cotton underwear, to keep your toddler comfortable. Easy Ups also tear easily at the sides just in case it’s needed. I personally love these new training pants and the way they fit the little guy.
• Easy Ups are the only training underwear with Pampers exclusive Extra Absorb Channels™, which provides outstanding protection against leaks during the day AND night. Dual Leak-Guard Barriers™ around the legs help prevent the leaks that can happen when they are on the move.
Transitioning into underwear is a big deal for every toddler! While the end result is rewarding, the road to get there can be full of challenges for parents and kids alike and making the process as hassle free as possible is always a plus. Pampers Easy Ups new product features are designed to help make the process of graduating from diapers to underwear easier and more fun!
While “potty training” is often the end goal that parents and children look forward to, Pampers wants to highlight and celebrate the milestone of little ones and their families moving from diapers to underwear, called “underwear training.” I really like this concept and feel it is the right mind set to start with the process.
The training pants are soft to the touch and not bulky at all which also supports the whole underwear concept.

I have potty trained 3 children and I’ll need to potty train my 4th child in about a year. With my first son, I used Cheerios as potty targets. I’ve never used Easy Ups.
I am currently potty training my grandson. I have potty trained 4 of my own kids and 2 other grand children. I find using a reward system works well.
My kids are grown, but my niece is potty training her youngest. She is doing well with it and has an older sister as a role model. The pull-ups look like they would work well to keep accidents from happening.
I have finished potty training, thank goodness. My tip is to try to train during the summer. There are less clothes you have to take off and put back on.
I have already potty trained my daughter. The only trick I know is to wait until the child WANTS to be trained. I literally trained my daughter in less than one day because she was ready. I was very lucky. Thanks for the giveaway!
My tip for potty training is to make sure you get rid of all the diapers once you begin, so there is no temptation to go back.
Thank goodness I’m not having to potty train a kid, lol. I do still have a nephew who refuses to learn to wipe his own behind, ha! But he does actually go to the bathroom on his own. We do have a cousin who is getting ready to deal with the whole potty training issue!
I have not, but a friend of mine is going through it right now and I know it’s tough, especially when the child is in daycare part-time because it makes the routine not as regular. They will be so happy when it’s done!
we will be potty training again soon. my tip is to be patient. it will come in its own timing. it’s not easy but it will happen just keep trying.
No, I am not potty training. No, I have not already potty trained. My brother and his wife are currently potty training their first child and I am hoping to pass along any tips I can get for them!
I have potty trained already but my son still uses these at night. They way we trained my last son was bubbles in toilet. He would get so excited with the amount of bubbles that he wanted to do it all the time.
I am done potty training. What worked for me is being consistent. Once you switch to potty don’t go back to diapers. I didn’t use Pampers Easy Ups
Yes, we are on this potty training journey. We are finishing up potty training our grandchild. She loves wearing her cotton big girl panties. For awhile earlier in this journey, we kept an extra portable potty in the back of our SUV for when we were running errands.
We are done potty training our kids. Sticker reward system worked great for them .
I finished potty training. We took our time and just really tried to go slow and not get frustrated. They will learn, it will happen you just have to be patient.
I have potty trained 4 kids and am now helping my granddaughter. My best advice is for you to relax..make it fun..have a fun song to sing while on the potty.
We are currently getting ready to potty train. I just bought a training potty today. I’m very nervous about it as I have heard lots of horror stories.
I already potty trained my sons. They were easier to potty train when I brought them in the bathroom with me and I was going also. I would bring their portable potty and sit them down. We would go at the same time with no rush.
We have not went through this yet but my little niece was a real trouper with this process. She was praised and she responded really well and don’t scold give praise. thankyou, ken
I finished potty training. It was not a fun time. It took a while and I was happy when it was over. Now my brother is going through it.
I am no longer potty training. A friend of mine is now potty training her son. The best tip is to be consistent.
My daughter is only 10 months old, so we don’t quite have any potty training experience yet. I am loving reading the other tips, from the other moms though! We’ll be potty training soon!
we have already potty trained.it was a crazy ride! my best advice is to make sure your kiddo is really ready for it. don’t rush anything but stay consistent.
Oh my goodness yes we have potty trained four so far and have one to go! I learned to do it in the warm months so less clothes are required making it easier on them, me and the washing machine!
No I haven’t but I do know that the reward system works!
I’ve potty trained 5 boys. My granddaughter is at the just beginning to potty train stage. I’m a little lost with a girl.
I already did the potty training thing. I had 5 boys and 1 girl My daughter was the worst ever!
I am not currently potty training. I did potty train three kids already. It is always different experience with each child.
Training our youngest right now. I have two older boys and have found that lots of praise, some rewards and reminders are what really worked for us in the past.
Two of my grandkids are potty training right now. My tip is that every kid is different and have patience.
My kids are grown. I remember it helped to have the potty chair where hey spent most of the time to make it easier for them to stop and go.
I don’t have any good stories. We aren’t quite to the potty training stage yet, but it will be here soon! Hopefully it goes smoother than I think it will!
When I was training my son a few years ago, I learned to be patient. I was so worried I wouldn’t get it right, but it worked out fine.
My little grandson is 1 1/2, so it won’t be long before he starts potty training. I remember with my kids that being consistent was the biggest factor. And they have to be ready to make it work.
It has been a long time since I potty trained a child. My main tip is MAKE SURE THEY ARE READY!! Don’t give into the pressure you may feel from outside sources to get your kid potty trained before he/she is ready. If they are not ready, you are in for a world of pain and frustration and it will inevitably take much longer than it would have had you waited.
Not potty training right now, but my cousin is about to be at that stage! My tips are to be patient with them. Using a rewards system helps a lot too! Thank you for the chance to win this.
My one son was very difficult to potty train. Finally, I decided to get creative. I decided to keep him home for 3-4 days and let him run around nude. It worked like a charm. If he had a diaper on, he would just go in it, but being nude, he ran right to the potty to do his business.
My kids are in their 40’s, so I did this a long time ago. I didn’t stress out about potty training, and my kids were trained by the time they were in kindergarten! All of my grandchildren are in school; they were trained pretty easily too! If there were funny stories, I have long since forgotten them!
My daughter is getting ready to be potty trained. She’ll be my second one I trained and it’s hard. My first one was so stubborn that she was still wearing diapers when she was 4!
I had a pretty easy time with potty training. I had the best luck with a rewards system. My sons really enjoyed getting the rewards from potty training.
My son is still a little young to potty train but I have been reading up on it. I am working on teaching him to tell me when he’s going potty which I think is a good first step. We already have a fun potty for him so hopefully that’ll help too!
I am not potty training yet but appreciate the insight I’ve received from your post. Not really looking forward to it to be honest!
I have nothing to report. My daughter basically potty trained herself. On day she just “got the idea” and that was it. True story!
I’m done with potty training.
I am currently helping my niece to potty train. I actually decorated her potty trainer with stickers so she would be more likely to use it. She got to pick the stickers 🙂
They are potty trained. Luckily, they are both boys so we would were able to give them targets. Boys love that! Cheerios or something they can make a game of hitting. And we don’t give them much water near bedtime to avoid nighttime accidents
My oldest is potty trained, but my youngest is not yet. I am sure we will use Cheerios and M&Ms to give our son an incentive when the time is right. Have a fun potty will be helpful too.
I already potty trained my 2 children long ago, and it’s been some time since my grandchildren were trained as well. However I have a relative with a toddler going through the joys of potty training and we’ve shared some stories and while it’s a struggle, it seems to be going well thankfully.
yes we are potty training our 2 1/2 yr old grandson who we finally got custody of yesterday 9/23/16 and are so happy. When we first started he wouldn’t have anything to do with the potty but now he will sit on it and I am sure that the first time he hears the trickling in there he will go more, he also watches his pappy when he goes so we are hoping that helps, atleast it did when we potty trained our son. Thanks for the giveaway and this would definitely help with the cost of diapers. I would also like to mention that I use the pull-ups but it seems like no matter what brand I use I always have several that aren’t stuck together on one of the sides.
Thankfully my boys are already potty trained, but I do have 2 nieces that my sister is in the process of trying to get them potty trained. She also just had her 1st son after having 3 girls, so she will be in diapers and pull ups for yrs to come. Lol the only tips I really have is make sure your child is ready because you can’t rush it. If your little one isn’t ready it’s not going to happen.
Thank goodness that stage is over with us. We used a reward system that seemed to work. Such a relief when they finally get it!
My best tip is to use a rewards system because it motivates kids to want to do the best they can.
I potty trained by 2 boys — wish I would have had these. I think these would make it much easier. I used the reward/bribery method…. Sugar Babies every time they went. Only took a day or two and they were trained.
I waited until I thought they were ready — I think a many people push it too early.
We’ve been working with Carter. He does great during the day but overnight is still a problem for us. We have cut back on his drinks in the evening and it seems to help. One day, in the near future, we should be all done! Yay!
I just started potty training for my autistic son few days ago. It was so hard at the beginning because he just wanted to run away. Then I let him watch his favorite Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and give some stickers as the reward, he did great so far!
We are currently getting ready to potty train our granddaughter.
I’m finished with my potty training although I do have friends that are potty training. My only piece of advice is offer a reward system to encourage and make it fun.
I potty trained 3 daughters and were done by 21/2 yrs old( the doc informed me that until the age of 2 you’re training yourself)….I’m now grandma nanny to 5 grandkids 3 boys and 2 girls, girls are definitely easier( the boys were still in pull ups when they started preschool at 4)
I’m not potty training my kids are grown but my niece is potty training her son . He is goes potty in his pull up and than pulls it off to give her no matter what she does it seems he won’t get it.
Hi there, I am currently helping to potty train my grand son. There are days he has no interest in it, and then there are days he wants to be a big boy and use the potty. The main key is consistency, but we don’t push him to the point that he throws a fit or absolutely refuses. We do try different routes, such as encouragement, rewards, etc.
My Granddaughter is potty trained, we found what helped her, was a reward system and a great deal of patience.
We’ve just started trying to potty train our first child – it’s been tough so far! My daughter decided mid-potty that she was scared of making a “mess” in the potty itself, so she just made the mess all over me! We are at a bit of a loss currently so it’s great reading the comments for advice and ideas.
I have potty trained 3 kids and most recently was my 3 year old. He was a bit tough but eventually did it when he was ready. Now we are working on training my little nephew.
I have already potty trained my kids.
I have already potty trained my oldest 4 children. My oldest daughter was trained very early my oldest son still had accidents going into elementry school every kid is different just dont stress it they will get it eventually
My tip is to use lots of encouragement and clapping and smiling. Kids respond to that.
I’m currently beginning to potty train my almost 2 year old. It’s been difficult because he doesn’t really want to use the potty but it showing the signs that he’s ready. I don’t really remember the tricks I used to potty train my first son (he’s 13 now!). I need some help! LOL
Luckily for me I don’t have kids so I don’t need to potty train!
We have not started potting training yet. My tip would be to reward your child if they use the toilet. I sure hope it works!
I already did potty training. Turn it into a game so its fun for the kids.
My kids are all potty-trained, but my friend is still working with his youngest son. It’s been a little bit of a struggle, but they are getting there! This might just be the incentive they need!
Happily i’m past the point of potty training.
I have started potty training. We have transitioned into pull-ups. My daughter is a little reluctant to use the potty. She yells and screams.
We are starting to potty train our son now. He loves Thomas the Train so Pampers easy ups are perfect for him. So far he is interested in the potty but has not gone on it yet. Hopefully this will help him and he will be potty trained soon!
Did you already potty train?
Have any tricks to share…a funny story maybe?
never had kids, and i really don’t remember as a kid..i must have learned something though
I am potty training my 2 year old son now. It has been a very difficult process for him. He is doing better now than he did last month. I still have to practice with him at night. So far he is doing good during the day.
We are potty training my granddaughter . Patience is the best advice.
As a grandmother, I potty trained my daughter umpteen years ago. I remember that I didn’t start the training before she was ready. I’m about to go through it again as my grandbaby turns 2 in January.
No potty training yet; this is for the neighbors. My little ones have yet to arrive. Until then, potty training bubble
My kids are now 13 and 9….thank God the potty training days are OVA!!! I def do not miss those not-so-fun mornings….afternoons…nights…..of dutifully dragging them to the potty. My advice is stay consistent and don’t give up. It will happen when it happens.
My baby is due in Dec. and then we will have the luxury of trying to potty train. I’ve heard some horror stories, I hope it goes smoothly for us! Thanks for the chance
Been there and done that. My daughter potty trained my granddaughter while my son-in-law was stationed in Hawaii. (I’m in Mississippi.) Ha-ha. :0
I do not have any kids to potty train. My nephew is almost potty trained. He still has a few incidents, but he’s getting very good about knowing when to go to the bathroom. He loves having a toilet light illuminating colors in the water.
We already potty trained. We used positive reinforcement and finally got there. Lots of patience helped too.
we are potty training and my daughter uses these at night… my trick is to have rewards
we will be potty training again soon. my tip is to be patient. i
I think that a lot of praise is a good potty training tool. Make your child feel that they have accomplished something that makes you proud and happy. Also use your own observations to detect when your little one needs to go and suggest that they use the toilet when you see that is becoming necessary.
I have a 4 year old who is potty trained, and I am working on training my second child now, not working as well but its a lot of fun in my opinion
Rewards do help, as an incentive to learn. It also helps to have older ones who can be an example. Try to have them take an “I want to learn this” attitude. A fun, inviting potty-training tool can also be of great help.
Thankfully, both of my girls are potty trained. Since each of them was different and potty trained at a different time, it’s hard to know exactly what kind of advice to offer. I guess just try to keep your sense of humor and know that it will happen at its own rate and that no two kids are alike when it comes to what works for them.
We are not potty training yet but look forward to it and seeing all the great ideas to help
we have already potty trained.it was a crazy ride! my best advice is to make sure your kiddo is really ready for it
I have only one tip to share. I think you should not try too early. It scares, and offers little rewards to help aid in proper training.
So much work, but it was a success
Potty training is a challenge, but seems to get easier with second and third children. It seems like the younger kids want to be like the big kids. If everyone relaxes, it all seems to go much easier.
I feel as if I am an awful potty trainer. My 3.5 year old son still has accidents all the time! I feel like a failure, so I am not sure I am the best to share advice. Maybe I will look through the comments and find some good tips.
My granddaughter is almost 1 so it will probably be a little while before she starts potty training. When my kids were young I kept their potty chair beside the toilet. Whenever I went in to potty myself I would set them down on their potty and that is what helped them train.
We will soon be potty training! I’m nervous about what the future holds and what my poor toilet will have to go through with our little man. lol
We are slowly potty training. Our son shows some interest in the potty, but doesn’t like to sit on it too long. Hopefully he will be ready soon.
I have potty trained my three children and now it is coming close for the 4th. I am mom ready!!!
I have not potty trained yet. I am a godmother and fortunately that is NOT one of our duties. I do get to hear all the stories, good & bad!
Yes, I have potty trained both of my children. We used a reward system where we would put a star sticker on the calendar when our children went a day without an accident. We would also let them run around without clothes on occasion and sit on the potty for a while.
I have three daughters that I potty trained. My biggest tip is to be very patient as children are different as to when they start using the potty chair. My middle daughter wanted nothing to do with it until one day she was ready and went right to it.
I have already gone through the potty training process. I think one of the best ways to handle it is have patience. I also think having the potty near by is a good start.
I have not potty trained yet. I love kids! I’m looking forward to having kids of my own real soon. i like reading tips and story’s, they could be helpful in the near future. thanks for the giveaway! 🙂
We have already potty trained our daughter. I would tell parents to be parient and enjoy potty trsining. It will happen and you will have fond memories.
No I am not potty training anymore. This prize pack would be for my nephew. My one tip for potty training it be patient and consistent.
Getting ready to help my lovely sister with my niece and son with potty training she comes every weekend to my house we are trying to make it fun and for her to feel like she is in her house with fun decorations for her and my son to feel that is the same as home and with some cool singing that my sister and I we made since we were little our parents use to do it to us and we are giving our kids the same tradition and to feel secure and that they have us to help them all the way
My daughter was trained at 2yr thanks to the help of my babysitter. We started out by sitting her on the potty first thing in the morning. We would continue to sit her on the potty through out the day, it really helped when she went to give her a treat like a sticker.
We are just starting to potty train. We are taking it slow at this point. A friend recommended a little object you can put in the toilet to use as a target for our son, which sounds like a funny but great idea.
I’ve potty trained 4 children (two boys and two girls). I just finished training the 4th one (boy) and he took the longest. He was easy to train (pee) but not (poop). We finally got down a calendar and started putting an X on each day that he went without having an accident. This worked, and after about two weeks we didn’t even need the calendar anymore. So proud of him!
Yes, i have potty trained 3 daughter’s as well as potty trained some of my grandchildren. I will be potty training again for the little boy I watch during the week. I believe that you must keep up a united front of being positive and having patience through this process. Also, a reward system helps quite a bit.
I have potty trained my kids already. I found that being positive works best. Encourage your child and let them lead the way.
I already potty trained three. Consistency in asking and being available to help and encourage is so important. Also helps to do this in warm weather when there are less clothes.
My granddaughter is post transplant 6 months ago, she will be 2 in December. Since she has just started to catch up to where other babies are at her age , we have not attempted to potty train yet. She just walked 2 weeks ago!
Thankfully I’m done potty training. The one tip that I have is to not start doing it until they are ready. As soon as my daughter started showing interest we dived in. And she resisted. About 4 months later she was interested again and within 4 days she was diaper free. Her time clock was what made the difference!
