Birkenstock USA began over 40 years ago when their founder, Margot Fraser, had a dream of sharing the comfort and health benefits of Birkenstock footwear. A few years earlier, while visiting a German resort, she had tried on her first pair and was extremely impressed at how good they felt. From there, Margot learned that the original Birkenstock contoured footbed was invented and manufactured in Germany by Konrad Birkenstock in 1897. In fact, the Birkenstock family has been shoemakers for over 230 years – more than two centuries of creating and perfecting a tradition of walking comfort.
I found their products for the first time just a few weeks ago, but my husband recognized the brand immediately as the place that has really nice comfortable sandals. The selection offered in their site is pretty wide and includes not only sandals, but also clogs and shoes.
For this review I was given the opportunity to try the Soft Footbed Habana Oiled Leather Bali design sandals which again is just one of the many different designs offered by the brand. Most of the Bikernstock sandals are offered in different colors. The Bali is specifically offered in brown and it is made of Oiled Leather that gives the sandals an almost rustic look.
The Bali Habana, is lightweight and flexible and most importantly very comfortable. These casual look sandals are a great addition to your sandals selection….The Bali sandals have a very European flare, and they actually take me back to my summers in Marbella ( Costa del Sol Spain). The sandals feature a Quarter-strap silhouette in a variety of materials with fully adjustable straps and shock-absorbing EVA sole. Both straps (front and back) are adjustable for a more personalized fit. The sandals footbed is wide so your feet rest comfortably without feeling constrained.
The Bali has a foam layer inserted between the cork layer and the suede liner of the original footbed which delivers a moderate arch support which adds to the overall comfort of the sandals. As I mentioned before these sandals provide you with a great deal of comfort. I did have to play around with straps to get the right fit…They feel very true to size and have a really nice craftsmanship and attention to details. I was able to see the quality of the materials as soon as I got my sandals out of the box. The Bali has a retail price of 130.00.
Their prices ranges from 69.95 to 130.00. for the women’s designs, they also offer kids and men footwear.
