If we’re really honest, there’s a lot of information out there about how we ‘should’ look. We’ll see Instagram feeds with filtered photos and well-meaning advice from friends and relatives, not to mention people on TV and in magazines, and everyone seems to have an opinion, and everyone seems to know what’s good and what’s bad.
The truth is, however, that when it comes to beauty, it’s really personal. What makes you feel good doesn’t have to match anyone else’s idea of what’s right, and that’s the whole point. With that in mind, keep reading to f
Do What Makes Sense For You
Some people swear by cold plunges and smoothies, and others feel great when they put on some lipstick or they get to spend a lazy day in their pyjamas. The point is, we’re all wired differently, and what helps one person feel more confident won’t always work for the next.
It could be that you’re thinking about a small change or tweak, like a new haircut or perhaps a breast lift, for example. And if that’s the case, then if it makes sense for you, you should do it – this isn’t about what anyone else thinks, after all.
Beauty Isn’t A Checklist
There’s a weird pressure sometimes to be everything all at once – natural, finished, effortless, glowing, and so on – but you’ve also got to be seen not to try too hard, and in the end, all that’s very exhausting. The truth is, confidence doesn’t come from ticking these boxes (especially since they don’t mean anything), and it actually comes from liking who you see in the mirror.
That feeling usually begins with you being kinder to yourself, and if that means making a bit of a change (or even a big change), then that’s what you need to do. Equally, it could mean that you realise you don’t have to or don’t want to, and either way is fine because your beauty should be just for you.
There’s No Right Way To Feel Good
You don’t have to justify why something matters to you, whether that’s taking better care of your skin or trying a new style or anything else. If it makes you feel better in your own skin, that’s all you need to know.
That’s why it’s important to wear clothes in colours you love rather than what’s in style, for example, or wearing clothes you enjoy even if other people don’t think they follow the fashion ‘rules’ (which change all the time anyway). Do what works for you, and that’s it.
Forget What Anyone Else Thinks
In the end, no one else knows what it’s like to live in your body except you, so you’re the only one who should get to decide what you change, what you keep, and what you’re still trying to work out.
And if your version of feeling good looks different to someone else’s, what’s the problem? Who cares? Life’s too short to try to fit into someone else’s idea of beauty.
