Sleep is often called “beauty sleep” because it helps our skin look younger and more radiant. But there are many other benefits to getting a good night’s sleep. Sleep plays an important role in overall health and can help improve cognitive function, mood, and energy levels. In contrast, a lack of sleep can lead to wrinkles, dark circles under the eyes, and a dull complexion. This blog post will discuss how to get the most out of your zzz’s so you can feel refreshed and beautiful!

Establish a regular sleep schedule:

Going to bed and waking up simultaneously each day helps to regulate your body’s natural sleep rhythm. This can be difficult to do if you have a fluctuating work schedule, but it’s important to try to stick to a routine as much as possible.

Create a relaxing bedtime ritual:

A warm bath or shower, reading a book, or listening to calming music can help you unwind before bed. Avoid watching television or working on the computer in the hours leading up to sleep, as the bright light can interfere with your body’s natural production of melatonin (a hormone that promotes sleep).

Keep your bedroom dark and cool:

Use blackout curtains or an eye mask to ensure your bedroom is dark enough. And keep the temperature on the cool side, as a warm room can make it difficult to fall asleep.

Make sure your mattress and pillow are comfortable:

Invest in a comfortable mattress and pillow that support your body in a way that is conducive to sleep. If you frequently wake up with aches or pains, it may be time for a new mattress. When you shop for a new mattress, look for one that is firm enough to support your back but not so hard that it causes discomfort. A great example is a memory foam mattress. Memory foam mattresses are also great for people who suffer from allergies as they are resistant to dust mites.

Limit your caffeine intake:

Caffeine is a stimulant that can keep you awake at night. Avoid coffee, tea, and soda in the hours leading to sleep. If you must have caffeine, drink it earlier in the day.

Get some exercise:

Exercise is a great way to improve your sleep. Just be sure to avoid exercising too close to bedtime, as the endorphins produced by exercise can keep you awake. A moderate workout early in the day should be fine, however.

Use something to help you sleep:

If you find it difficult to fall asleep or stay asleep, there are several things you can try. Over-the-counter medications such as diphenhydramine (Benadryl) or doxylamine (Unisom) can help. There are also natural supplements, such as CBD oil, that may help. CBD oil is a  non-psychoactive compound found in cannabis plants that have been shown to promote sleep. If you decide to use CBD oil, be sure to purchase it from a reputable source such as the CBDistillery and start with a low dose to see how your body reacts.

Beauty sleep is essential for maintaining a youthful appearance and feeling your best. By following the tips above, you can ensure you’re getting the most out of your zzz’s!
