You have probably seen the TV Commercial for ABC Mouse. After seeing the TV ad, I took a peak to their website and actually talked about this program with some of my friends on Facebook that have signed up for it and that were very happy with the results they were getting from the ABC Mouse.com program, so I decided to contact them and see if they would be interested in a review. Fortunately they agreed and sent me a code that is good for a membership for a full year so I could do this review.
My daughter that is in kindergarten has been getting her report card and assignments marked as proficient which is good. I am very proud of my little lady, but her teacher recommended more reading….She is a little behind when it comes to reading, so I thought this program might help.
ABCmouse.com is a global education initiative of Age of Learning, Inc. Their goal is to help children build a strong foundation for future academic success by providing a comprehensive and engaging online curriculum to greatly assist early learners to succeed in pre-k, kindergarten, and early elementary school programs.
I must say I am still learning about all that is available through the ABC Mouse website. On the site, my almost 6 years old has a virtual class room with a teacher and has many different options to follow each and create a learning path. What I love the most about the site, is not only that my little lady has fun but she actually learns the things that will help her in school.
As I mentioned our main concern with her is reading as she gets frustrated when she does not get the words she sees correctly. What I have found in the ABC Mouse website that can help us guide her in the right direction is actually a complete selection of stories that are played on the computer…The words are highlighted as the story goes on which helps her to recognize new words and how they sound. They even explain which vowels are long and which vowels are short…The explanation is very comprehensive and easy to follow and they provide the kids with samples, so it is actually very hands on. Love it! It even has the sight words that the kids need to learn… or teach them about opposites…..A I said very complete, very impressive.
Reading is just one of the many things kids can learn through the site, the kids have access to math, the world around us, arts and colors, music and songs, they even have a library that kids can access through the “class room “.
There are also games that the kids can play…It is a lot of fun and more importantly the kids do spend time learning what they need in order to succeed in the actual classroom. The site keeps track of your kid’s development and the different activities they completed on the site. You can easily set up the site for your kid’s needs and you can have different profiles for different kids.
You can also change the settings if you think your kid is more or less advanced than what you originally thought. The ABC Mouse is definitely a great tool that is worth having and that you can have as a monthly service or buy a whole year membership (you get a discount when do the year membership). Overall I highly recommend the ABC Mouse program and as I said, you can try it for a month and see how it works for your…I am most certain you and your kids will love it!
