Father’s day is just around the corner and since I’ve made giving my husband a wardrobe makeover a priority, I have been looking for different items to add to his closet and that of course includes shoes…If you let him have his way, he would wear nothing but flip flops, so I have been looking for some nice and comfortable shoes for him that are also stylish and Dunham has a really nice selection of just such type of shoes.

Dunham is part of the Drydock Footwear Group, a joint venture with New Balance, which is home to the Aravon, Dunham, and Cobb Hill brands. You will probably remember my review for Cobb Hill… They are located on Boston’s commercial waterfront directly across from the city’s drydocks which is where they get their name from.

For this review I was given the chance to try the Dunham Alec design which has the best of both worlds as the shoes are super comfortable and stylish at the same time. The Alec features a loafer design shoe with double gore slip-on style for convenience and micro-perfed vamp for breathability.

The Alec are really light weight (9.36 oz) and slip on very easy (it has a stretchy inset on the top that facilitates putting them on) …One thing I have noticed is how very soft they are in the inside (I tried them on). The shoes have a leather upper with EVA (Ethyl Vinyl Acetate) foam footbed for cushioning and an Ortholite® foam insert delivers odor resistance, long term comfort, and superior breathability which is vital for hot weather places like Florida…It also allows you to wear the shoes without socks.

The Alec is a very easy to wear shoe that gives you the looks without sacrificing the comfort. I must say that the shoes look even nicer than what you can appreciate from the pictures on the online store.

The Alec comes in two different colors, navy and tan… I decided to go with the navy as I know it would look really nice with jeans, but the reality is that both colors are really nice and fashionable, actually the shoes look like a more expensive pair of shoes, but they retail for 119.00 which is a really good price for a pair of shoes like this.

The shoes have a contrasting off white and brown sole and also contrasting stitching that brings the whole design together and completes the look on the design. The Alec is a really nice looking shoe that is very comfortable and will look great with shorts, jeans and even kakis.

The Alec is just one of the many designs on the Dunham catalog. This specific shoe is part of their casual shoe selection. They also offer sandals, dress shoes and boots, so if you are looking for a nice pair of shoes for a special dad in your life, I highly recommend you take a look at their catalog.
