Car seats are a very important element when you have kids. As a parent I want to make sure my little girl is as protected as possible when she is on the road with me or her dad, so I take my car seat choices very seriously! I have recently had the chance to try the Safety 1st Advance 70 Air + car seat which is a convertible car seat that incorporates the same technology that protects INDY and NASCAR drivers in their high performance cars. The patented technology in this new car seat is called GCell HX™, and combined with Safety 1st Air Protect Technology this seat provides full body safety protection in the event of a crash which if you ask me is exactly what I want for my little ladybug.
The Safety 1st Advance 70 Air + features Safety 1st new Air Protect + to keep children from 5-70 pounds safer during the ride. The ladybug is 6 years old right now and about 48 pounds so she can still use this car seat for a couple of years more and since you can actually start using it from 5 pounds and use it rear facing up until your baby is about 40 pounds and then you can have your kids in the forward position until they are about 70 pounds so you do get a lot for your buck.
The steel frame is generous. In addition, the energy absorbing foam comes high up on the sides delivering additional protection. One of my favorite features is the air protect wings for the head that offers a nice field of protection. In addition the Safety 1st Advance 70 Air + is nicely cushioned to add comfort.

The 5-Point Harness can be used rear or forward facing and is really roomy giving the kids lots of room to enjoy the ride. The wide design adds to the comfort as it makes this car seat generously sized. So, if you have a small car, you might want to check on the dimensions to make sure the car seat will work for you. It’s dimensions are 29.0 ” H x 20.75 ” W x 19.0 ” D with a weight of about 22 pounds.
The straps are fairly easy to use and adjust. Among the different perks you will find on this car seat are a single cup holder and a multi position recline feature with 4 different positions that is also very easy to use. The car seat has a handle on the very top to facilitate its transportation when needed. It also has two big openings on the sides that you can use to store the harness when not in use ( handy when traveling).

The car seat also features coded belt paths for easy use and operation, no re-thread harness….You might want to add a harness cushion for extra comfort ( I do with all my car seats). It also has a 10 positions headrest that is also very easy to operate. If I could change something on this car seat it would probably be the length on the harness strap…A little extra wouldn’t hurt in my opinion.
Over all this is a comfortable, easy to use car seat with great safety features. The Safety 1st Advance 70 Air + has a retail price of $189.99 and is available at Target.
