I received a Vivitar DVR786 action camera to facilitate this review. I was not financially compensated for this post. My opinions are my own and not by any means influenced by any other part.
A few weeks ago, Vivitar released their new DVR786 action camera. This is a nifty, rugged and affordable action camera this is great for those looking to capture special moments and travelers that do not want to miss out on any details. The DVR 786 which is available at Amazon, is available just in time for holiday shopping. It is a very small and lightweight camera that comes with a series of attachments to provide users with multiple ways to capture videos.
The Vivitar DVR786 action camera comes with a wireless remote control, waterproof casing, bicycle mount, and helmet mount. Powered by a built in Lithium battery, this little camera is one tool you would like to have with you during your next trip or adventure.
This action camera is very easy to use and has different modes for the various camera functions that are accessed through different buttons on the camera (5 including the power button).
The Video Capture Mode
This is the default mode while your camera is on…To start shooting a video, all you need to do is aim the camera and press the shutter /OK button located on the top right of your camera and it will start recording. To stop the recording, simply press the same button one more time.
Photo Capture Mode
Your Vivitar DVR786 action camera can also take great still photos! To take a photo, just turn the camera on, quickpress the Power button in order to switch to photo mode, then press Shutter/OK button to take a photo. Really, this could not be easier to use.
To access more functions on this mode, press the menu button.
Playback Mode
You will use the Playback Mode to view your photos and videos. To access this mode, just turn on your camera and quickpress the Power button twice to switch to playback mode ( use the zoom in or zoom out buttons on the side of the camera to scroll through pictures and video files).
After the initial charge of your battery to full (the charge light will go off once it is fully charged) your camera is ready to use. I took my camera out to test and was really pleased with the video quality if you consider this action camera is priced at just $59.99. I was quite pleased and it does a very decent job.
I was a little concerned about getting this action camera under water, but the casing does an outstanding job at keeping the camera safe and dry. The DVR786 action camera is submersible up to 30-feet to give you the ability to shoot in water and action settings. Now when you want to take video or photos in the pool or shoot a video of your white water rapids trip to Costa Rica, you’ll be all set.
One thing you need to know is if that while you are using the camera, you need to make sure the microphone is not covered ( the sound is a bit muffled when using the waterproof casing).
Once you start recording, you might notice that the screen goes black after a while of recording and it might look as it is not recording, but it is….I am guessing the camera does this in order to save battery.
Overall the Vivitar DVR786 action camera is an easy to use, handy camera, that is very accessible price wise and that would make a great holiday present for these holidays! I think my 8 year old daughter is going to love it.

I would like to try one of their high definition video cameras. I don’t have one and I miss being able to tape my kids’ special events. But I also like all their cameras.
Oh the scale looks like a good one. I have been in search of one.
I would like to try there high def video camera.
I’d also like the ViviCam S529 Digital Camera. If I won, I’d give this to my sons.
I just read the 3-4 sentence part! Apologies for my first post. I would like to try one of their telescopes because I find space completely fascinating. I’ve never had a telescope, but we are looking to maybe move to a place with less light pollution so it would be handy to have. As for the camera, if I won I would give it as a gift to one of my more artistically inclined family members. Thank you for the giveaway!
I would also like to try the Camelio Android tablet. I’ve read that the Vivitar DVR786 action camera is very comparable to the GoPro Hero action camera. I would probably keep it for myself.
I like the DVR 858HD
Digital Video Recorder.
I have still not gotten my camera. Can you check into that? Faye Gates
I want the telescope. My husband and I always say we are going to get one, then we just seem to forget. I will keep this gift for me. I don’t have a camera.
I would like to have the ViviCam S325
Digital Camera. If I won I would give it to my son he has been wanting his own camera.
Id like the 385 HV flash for a camera. I have never had one for my cameras through several decades.
I’d gift this camera to my oldest grand daughter. She’s a tween and I know she would go crazy over this. Something she could memorialize all her activities and friendships over the next few years until we could afford a more advanced camera, or her parents get her a phone with a camera.
I would absolutely love to win this Vivitar camera so that I could take some good pictures of our little grandson Andrew. As you know his daddy died 37 days before he was born and my hubby and I have gone to court to get grandparents rights and now are going to court to have his last name legally changed to our sons last name. He loves being with us and we love having him, this camera would be a joy to have and I would also love to have a tablet for me, I have heard so much about them it would be a nice gift for me.
First, this would be for me! (I like to film my pets), Also from Vivitar (a great brand btw!) I would be interested in the V3800-50 SLR Camera.
My first camera was a vivitar so I would probably share this one with my guys. I like the dvr786 and I also like the telescopes on the site too. What a fun action camera-it looks easy to use.
The only bike crashes we have had lately has been trying to film my kids riding.
Would love to film and not crash!
I wish I had one of their iTwist Cameras. You can turn the lens around to see the photo from the front if you want to be in the photo. I love that idea! This action camera would be a great Christmas gift, though. I love how compact it is.
I would like to have a High Definition Video Camera, especially the Vivitar XVN-5
I really like their Camelio tablet. I like that it is an android, and also that it caan be personalized so much. So many tablets are cookie cutter versions and that one sounds like it is able to do so much more. It is also nice tat it does come with preloaded apps.
I would gift this t my husband he has so many doctor appointments, and this would keep him busy so it would be a Holiday gift..
I would like to try the V3800-50 SLR Camera. I would give this as a gift for my daughter or my son… Not sure yet. They both would really like it.
I would like to try the DVR 830XHD Digital Video Recorder. My sweet husband likes to make and edit videos, so it would be an awesome gift for him. I’d also like to get one for our Chinese foreign exchange student. He uses his phone to make videos for school and I know he’d love one like this.
I would love to have the DVR 858HD Digital Video Recorder. I would love to give this to my daughter for Christmas. I would also love to use it myself, so I would borrow it from her too. 😉 Thanks for the chance to win! Great giveaway!
I like the 14 Megapixel » iTwist F124 Digital Camera, its compact would fit in my purse .i would not miss on some great photo opts.
I would also love to have the V3800N SLR Kit, Camera and Accessory Kit. Its a very good camera and comes with all of the basics. Vivitar is a great brand!
I would also like to own their RC-200-D300 wireless shutter release. I’ve been needing one of these for my long exposure shots. If I won, I would give this to my stepson. I think he would get a lot of use out of it. I can see him taking a lot of pictures skateboarding with his friends.
