We love home cooked meals and try to stick to them as much as possible, so we spend a good amount of time in the kitchen which is great, but sometimes my time is limited and I need options that will allow me to feed my family a good meal without me slaving all day in the kitchen and this is where Crock-Pot® comes in play. I was sent a Crock-Pot® from their Canadian site to try. The product was sent to me free of charge, I did not received any compensation and all opinions expressed here are my own and by no means influenced by anyone else.
The Crock-Pot® slow cooker allows busy moms and dads to create delicious and nutritional recipes that all families will love without the need to “watch” what you are cooking at all times. Not to mention that by slow cooking your meat or whatever it is you choose to cook for a few hours, the juices and flavors on your dish come together to provide an amazing and tasteful final product that is usually healthier because you can avoid the use of oil and other ingredients when using a Crock-Pot®.
For this review I was given the opportunity to try the Crock-Pot®. 6 Qt ovals for 7 + people. The unit is very user friendly as it features one touch control and all settings can be set up by pressing one single button. This particular unit features four time settings (4, 6, 8 or 10 hours’ time intervals). I have prepared 2 different meals on this Crock-Pot® so far and I have actually played with the settings going from a high temperature 4 hours to a slower 6 hours setting.
The unit shifts to warm automatically so you do not have to worry about your food getting cold. On both occasions the meal came out very juicy and tender and preparation could not be easier. I picked up a portabella mushroom pork loin from Sam’s club and put it in the Crock-Pot®, after 2-3 hours in the Crock-Pot, we added portabella mushrooms and onions and let it cook for about 3 more hours and the result was a delicious and tender pork loin.
I served it with white rice and avocado salad….Yum. So I was able to make a super easy and delicious meal that will last us for a probably 3 meals.
The removable stoneware is dishwasher safe as is the lid. One thing you need to consider when you buy this unit, is that the time intervals are in two hours so you can’t program any odd numbers, so if you have a recipe that call for a 3 or 5 hours’ time you will need to set up an external timer which would not quite work if you are not home.
The outside shell is made of stainless steel for easy clean-up and modern look.
The unit comes with a recipe book and as mentioned before and is very user friendly, so I am very happy with this Crock-Pot®!
