Are you planning a family vacation? I have been dying to take some time off, but with the new baby, the possibilities are limited and since I am already taking a quick trip with him at the beginning of December a long ride or plane trip does not sounds very appealing, but there is a place I have been dying to visit that’s not too far away…Have you ever been in Daytona Beach? At a little less than 3 hours away from where we live and a little less than an hour from Orlando, Daytona Beach offers lots of different activities that are kid friendly options

They also have many different events that are free, so it is definitely a great destination for people with and without kids looking for a beach vacation. Daytona Beach is known as the World Center of Racing, but there is a lot more than racing in Daytona Beach as it is rich in history, and plenty of activities and dining options.

It is where you find the Ponce Inlet ….Home to the tallest lighthouse in Florida, the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is famous for its 360-degree views of the Atlantic Ocean! Daytona Beach offers a wide selection of lodging options including hotels, motels, condo rentals, bed and breakfast inns, vacation rentals and camp grounds so you can have a family vacation or romantic getaway within your budget and particular needs.

There are activities for everybody…Daytona Beach offers a very wide selection of activities including shopping, fishing, golf, arts and culture, night life, outdoor fun and water activities…So it is great for couples or families.

There truly is something for everybody including free things to do in Daytona Beach  which is after all the festival capital of Florida and I am particularly interested in their Bird Fest that takes place this weekend (November 14th), in which attendees can see glove-trained birds of prey, and learn about bird migration…Being an animal lover my daughter would be ecstatic and have so much fun and learn so much.

Besides this, they have booths operated by nature groups and crafters, music, children’s activities and food vendors so a really great time can be had for all family members…. Visitors can even take free tours to the Marine Science Center and its Mary Kelly Seabird Rehabilitation Sanctuary, which provides treatment for injured and sick birds.

The one thing that I know would entice my husband is getting to drive his car on the beach. After all, that is how Daytona originally became famous with its racing, was setting speed records as world records were set on this stretch of beach. The first car to reach over 200 MPH did so at Daytona Beach way back in 1927.

So hopefully I can convince the husband to take a quick trip pre-holidays and take a little weekend vacation and enjoy all the attractions and activities that Daytona Beach has to offer….the beach awaits!
