I received the Nintendo products mentioned here to facilitate this review. I was not financially compensated for this post. My opinions are my own and not by any means influenced by any other part.
It was 1985 when Nintendo announced that they were releasing the Nintendo Entertainment System and like any kid back then, me and my brothers couldn’t wait to get our hands on one of them… I loved the different games, but the favorite was without a doubt Super Mario Bros followed very closely by Zelda.
A lot has changed since then and technology has made it possible to carry your console everywhere you go so you can have access to your games on the go and better yet the games and graphics are simply amazing…Yes, I am talking about the Nintendo 3DS.
This New Nintendo 3DS XL system is truly the next dimension of entertainment. The Nintendo 3DS XL combines next-generation portable gaming with super-stable 3D technology and added control features.
The first thing you need to know is that you should charge your unit completely before the first use and once the unit is completely charged, you will proceed to set up your unit and add information and different settings for your unit. On the initial set up, you will be able to set up the Nintendo Network ID, connection settings, SpotPass (You can configure settings for automatic software downloads or setting of system information). You can also set up Nintendo DS connections, parental control (love this feature), data management ….
The setup is very easy, the unit will prompt to different steps and all you need to do is follow the instructions, very user friendly.
Time to play
Nintendo 3DS XL features two screens. The bottom screen is a touch screen that makes use of a stylus that is stored in the unit itself (bottom right). The top screen displays 3D visuals without the need of 3D glasses…You by the way, can choose different levels of 3D, meaning that you can make the 3D feature more or less as you wish by simply using the 3D Depth Slider.
Not crazy about the 3D? No biggie, all Nintendo 3DS games and applications can be played in 2D, and they still look amazing!
3D Camera
You can take photos and video using the Nintendo 3DS XL system.
The Nintendo 3DS XL system uses its two outer cameras to see the world in 3D, much like the human eye, so you can actually take 3 D photos and videos.
StreetPass
This is one feature I had no idea about. You can actually set your Nintendo 3DS XL to Sleep Mode and carry it with you wherever you go to exchange game data without having to touch your unit. You would be able to exchange Mii characters, high scores, and custom characters with other users you pass on the street. …Amazing right? I was actually a bit concerned about this until I learned that I can control what data I exchange.
SpotPass
Another cool feature? The Nintendo 3DS XL system can connect to a wireless Internet access point automatically. Once connected, special items will be automatically download to your system via the SpotPass feature, no matter if your unit is in sleep mode or not.
Your New Nintendo 3DS XL system allows you to play all Nintendo DS games. But Nintendo DS games will not appear in 3D. One other thing you need to know, is that the AC Adapter for the unit, is sold separately. New Nintendo 3DS XL uses the same AC adapter as Nintendo DSi, Nintendo 3DS and 2DS. You can find the New Nintendo 3DS XL system at selected retailers and it can be found from $194.00.
Whenever I hear Nintendo, the first thing that comes to my mind is Mario…Which was considered the “face of Nintendo” and has been in different adventures and that includes the latest Nintendo release, the Mario & Luigi Paper Jam.
Mario & Luigi Paper Jam
Mario & Luigi Paper Jam game is the latest addition to the always popular Mario and Luigi RPG series.
In this opportunity, the beloved brothers, have to solve the mysteries they will find in the pages of an enigmatic book and unlike what I had expected, the game has all the game mechanics and style that comes from RPG game series while Paper Mario is more of a cameo appearance in the game.
The game is about 30- 35 hours long, and has short tutorials that will guide you through your journey and adventures. The game is fairly easy to play. The formula of the game is like what you can expect from a Mario and Luigi game. You control Mario, Luigi and Paper Mario as they go on a journey to rescue Peach and Paper Peach.
During combat you use a combination of jump attacks, hammer attacks and special Mario and Luigi moves that you will discover as you battle and level up each character.
What makes this such a fun game? You have to execute the attacks yourself. Meaning that if you are doing a jump attack, you will need to actually press the jump button or you won’t do any damage to your opponent. Through enemy turns, you need to dodge and in some cases counterattack enemies moves. Paper Mario is kind of a tool for Mario and Luigi to use. Lots of fun and great graphics will make this new Nintendo game a favorite this season!
