I usually had to work on the weekends, so small escapades on the weekends were not always possible, so I changed my availability at work so I can spend some weekends with the family… As you all know I live in Florida… about 3 hours from Orlando and while we have been in Orlando several times, we have never visited SeaWorld Orlando….so that was on top on my hit list, and a few days ago we actually had the opportunity to visit Shamu’s home.
SeaWorld provided me with two tickets, and then we bought a couple more tickets and with my mom, my little bug, my husband and yours truly ready for an adventure, we packed the car and headed to Orlando. We got to the park around 10:00, we checked in (quick and easy transaction) and from there till the time we left the park it was a blast!
There is so much to see that it is hard to decide where to start. We first visited and got to pet the stingrays and kept looking for new things to do which I must add was really easy to find as the park is loaded with so many things that your day will be gone before you know it!
Among the different things we did, we next went to the Turtle Trek which features an amazing 3D journey from the point of view of a sea turtle. The journey starts from the moment the turtle hatches on the beach and that is just the beginning as you will see and almost experience firsthand the different adventures the Sea turtle. The 3D effects are amazing and so real that I had to hold on to my husband so as to not fall over when there was a turn…SeaWorld tries try to bring awareness to sea life protection and the importance to maintain clean beaches.
The Pacific Point Preserve is where you will find all the Sea lions and Seals…My daughter loved this attraction and I have to say that it was really neat to watch them. They give you the option to buy some fish to feed to the animals (which we loved)…just watch for the seagulls as they can snatch the fish from your hands….My daughter learned this first hand 🙂 while posing for a picture holding the fish in her outstretched hand.
We got to watch two of the shows that are both a must. The first was, the BLUE HORIZONS. This show is a colorful magical theatrical spectacular that features dolphins, tropical birds and acrobats. There is so much going on that it will be hard to keep track of all the action taking place! I will recommend you to try to be seated about 30 minutes before the show as it is one of the big attractions and fills up really fast.
The acrobatics with the costumes and the animals were simply outstanding. There is a lot going on in the water, on stage…and then you also have the birds joining in on the fun!
The other must see show and my favorite part of the day was with no doubt the killer whales show! The Shamu show, One Ocean, is full of energy and soul. The show is so full of vitality that you can actually feel all the energy taking over the whole audience…The trainers have the whales do all these different routines that are simply majestic and spectacular.
I will recommend to get to the theater a good half hour before the show takes place as the seats fill up really quickly! They said that the first 15 rows of seats can get wet…We wanted to see and feel everything first hand so we sat in the very first row….Did we get wet? You bet! But I would have not traded places…We were soaking wet but loved it and my daughter giggles and screams….actually everybody was screaming each time we knew we were going to get wet….and wet we got!!!
We all loved the park and since we didn’t actually see all the attractions (we didn’t’ have time to see the penguins). SeaWorld is definitely on my list of favorites and a must do if you are planning to visit Orlando! A little tip….Tickets are about half price on week days (at least when we were there) and there is not as many people, so if you have the option to go on a week day I highly recommend it. We visited on a Thursday and it was packed….so I can only imagine what the weekend would look like…The truth is that it was still summer and kids were not in school yet, so now it should be even better! The park opens at 9:00 am and closes at 10:00 pm.
