Now that we are in our new house, I decided this is the perfect time to do some updates and upgrades throughout the house by changing a lot of the decorations and color schemes we had in the condo. I decided to go with lighter paints, and accents in pretty much all the rooms in the house.

Creating different spaces

Creating different spaces with different décor will give each room their own personality and feel. I eliminated a lot of the décor pieces I had at the condo and added different accents in each room to complement the décor and furniture.

While I did not change the general wall colors in the house, the different rooms now have pieces that would enhance the theme and color palette. For my daughter’s room, I used coral and teal for the color of the accents in her room. As for the theme, she is currently obsessed with pineapples, so that’s the main focus of her room décor.

For my son’s room, I used a white and a very light blue color for the walls and added navy blue elements to his room.

I also kept the décor as simple as possible and added just a few pieces, including a beautiful sculpture from Precious Moments (can you believe they are celebrating their 40th anniversary?)

I have always been a Precious Moments fan and wanted to incorporate one of their pieces to his room’s décor, so I chose a limited edition figurine showing a couple in a bright red antique car, reminiscent of simpler times, that is simply striking.

Perfect for a focal point, this adorable piece brings a fun pop of color to the room and ties in perfectly with the rest of the décor.

Crafted from porcelain, this is one of the 3,000 pieces made worldwide and definitely not a toy but an endearing piece that will make a wonderful gift for any Precious Moments collector or fan.

At about 5”H x 8”W x 4.25” D, this piece is just the right size for my son’s bedroom and, by far, my favorite Precious Moments piece.

For the rest of the house, I kept the walls white with the exception of one wall in the master bedroom which features a Navy blue wall that might sound a bit bold, but works great with the white walls in the room and can be accentuated when adding the right décor elements.

We kept the same furniture we had at the condo and the dark brown colors on the furniture contrast really nicely against the white walls!
