I am a person that really believes that re-purposing can save lots of money plus gives you the opportunity to add your personal touch to whatever it is you are doing, so I took it upon myself to refinish two foldable drawer towers I have in my daughter’s room in which I keep a lot of toys…I tried to do something with them about a year ago, but was not too happy with the results, so I was getting ready to throw them away but decided to give it one last try.
I had the idea of panting them in white and one of the sides would be painted with blackboard chalk paint so maybe , just maybe, my daughter would use this to write and draw and spare the bed?
For this little project, I headed to Home Depot and got myself a quart of white paint (for wood), chalk paint, brushes and painter’s tape.
I sanded the towers to try to get rid of the butterflies and flowers that I have previously painted on the towers ( used a really thin grain sand paper).
Once the sanding was done, it was time to start painting the towers for which I used a small roller I got at Home Depot also. They have specific ones for doors and cabinets and that is what I used.
After doing all the painting I needed to do with the white paint, I started using the chalk paint. I had to go a few times to get the correct coverage and I let it dry before applying a new coat, I did this process maybe 3-4 times.
I bought 4 of those folding drawers that would match her room décor. I found them at Walmart online and they were about $11.00 for a set of two.
As you can see in the photos, the drawers were a little shorter than I probably needed, but they work pretty good and they can fit lots of toys that otherwise would probably be all over my daughter’s room.

looks great!
Thanks:)
