The holidays are fast approaching, and people take this time of the year to reunite with friends and family and maybe get together with people that you have not been able to see throughout the year because of work, distance, or simply life getting in the way.

The end of the year seems to be the designated time to get together and celebrate and a norm for most people who will be gathering for work for parties, and of course friends and family to celebrate the end of the year but more importantly the new year ahead.

With the gatherings, parties and events, so comes the food and drinks and unfortunately, people tend to forget that no matter the time of the year that the event occurs, drinking and driving is the worst thing you can do and unfortunately there is usually an increase in the accidents statistics whenever there is a holiday.

Know your limits

While there is a legal alcohol limit, not everybody is the same and a glass of wine with dinner for example could be all your need to get your faculties affected by the alcohol. There are different factors like food, weight, and even sex that would be related on how much alcohol can affect a person.

Remember that some medications should not be mixed with alcohol and if you are taking any kind of medication, you should be aware and read the labels for any warnings.
I found this drink- driving infographic with drinking and driving facts that is really interesting.

Have a designated driver

If you are with a group that will be carpooling, then it is a smart idea to have a designated driver. It seems so obvious and simple, yet people seem to forget about this option.

Don’t worry, you can still have lots of fun without drinking alcohol, but if for whatever reason you find yourself not in optimal condition for driving, you can always ask a friend for a ride or call a taxi or Uber!

Speak out

Because common sense is not so common sometimes if you see someone that is intending to drive when they shouldn’t say something and you might be saving someone’s life.
If involved in a road traffic collision, then it’s a good idea to use the best car accident lawyer to help collate the evidence and to gain the compensation you deserve.

This holiday season, let’s keep it fun, let’s enjoy ourselves, and most importantly let’s be safe!

Remember, not to drink and drive, and please DO NOT text if you are driving.
