There is a certain amount of pride and satisfaction when you create something with your own hands and kids have always loved making models. Even today, kids have a very special place in their hearts for things that they can say I made that!

Revell offers  model kits that are fun, affordable, and easy to build for kids as young as 6 years old and going all the way up to 12 years old. The model kits are designed for specific age groups and are made to match these age groups and kid’s attention span based on their age.

The  model kits are actually categorized by age/ skill levels so you ca easily browse for the specific model kits to match your kid’s age and skill level.

For this review I received 3 different model kits with different skill levels.

Snap Tite Build and Play (with a skill level1 for ages 6-8) Jeep Wrangler Rubicon features a 10 pieces model kit that requires no glue or tools to put together. This kit will provide a young kid with all the elements he needs to create a jeep that can be used to play with after all pieces are in place. This model kit has a retail price of $12.95.

Snap Tite Max ( with a skill level 2 for ages 8+) Humvee. This features a plastic model kit, that contains a total of 35 parts and will require the use of a screw driver, but no paint or glue is needed for this kit. The estimated build time is 30 minutes, and would make a great quick weekend project for the kids. The Snap Tite Max Humvee has a retail price of $15.95.

Revell 2013 Camaro ZL1( with a skill level 3 for ages 10+) features a 48 pieces model kit that unlike the other two will require the use of glue and tools. Paint is optional and it is an introduction to more advanced and complicated model kits.

Model kits

The Revell 2013 Camaro ZL1 takes an average of 3 hours build time…All these model kits are a great way to help kids develop their building and organizational skills along with providing them with challenges that would encourage their sense of self achievement and confidence. The Revell 2013 Camaro ZL1 model kit has a retail price of $19.95.

These 3 model kits are part of 26 new Revell models that are available at Michael’s craft stores and have retails prices going from $12.95 to $24.99. I think they would make a great Holiday present for a young builder in your life…And yes, it is also a great way to peak your kid’s interest in something other than computer games!
