I received a Wüsthof GOURMET 7-inch Hollow Edge Chai Dao knife to facilitate this review. I was not financially compensated for this post. My opinions are my own and not by any means influenced by any other part.
I have been doing a lot of cooking lately ad expecting to do a lot more this Holiday season. One thing I learned while working for a big hotel chain in Spain is that a cook is only as good as their tools and any good cook needs proper tools in order to prep and cook great meals and a good knife is one of the main tools for a good cook…Now, I am no chef, but I like making prep time while cooking as easy as possible so I always try to have the proper tools for cooking.
Throughout its history, Wüsthof has been known for creating top-of-the-line knives for the professional chef and home cooking aficionado. With a wide selection of styles to choose from Wüsthof knives are the kind of tools that chefs like to have when cooking.
I have recently had the opportunity to try the Wüsthof GOURMET 7-inch Hollow Edge Chai Dao knife
The GOURMET 7-inch Hollow Edge Chai Dao , is part of the Wüsthof Gourmet collection and features an ergonomic, lightweight 7” chef’s knife with high carbon –stainless steel laser-cut stamped blade that sharpens easily and better yet, stays sharp. The handle is resistant to heat and high impact for durability.
The blade is about 7 x2.25 inches and while the knife is dishwasher safe, they recommend to hand wash it which is what I usually do with my high end kitchen tools.
The Wüsthof GOURMET 7-inch Hollow Edge Chai Dao knife is designed to cut things like vegetables as well as chopping and dicing. So while the knife is bigger than what I normally use for this types food preparation, it is actually very easy to use and I love being able to use one single knife for different tasks. The truth is that I find the Wüsthof Gourmet Hollow Edge Chai Dao very easy to maneuver.
I especially like the fact that food hardly ever sticks to the knife which again makes it easier shifting from one food to another.
Wüsthof has a very wide selection of knives that includes a variety of Gourmet knives along with different collections to match your culinary needs…and I’m sure there is at least one handy tool you would want to have in your kitchen this Holiday Season!
Win it:
Wüsthof has kindly offered one lucky Born 2 Impress reader, the chance to win a free GOURMET 7-inch Hollow Edge Chai Dao knife!

Wow, Wusthof is the best! I know professional chefs use this brand all the time. Another one of their products I really would love to have (and need!) is the Wusthof Scissor set, product # 5500. It comes with 4 pairs of different type of scissors, plus, as a bonus, pruning shears. I would love quality scissors like these, instead of the plastic-handled ones we have now from the dollar store.
I’d love to try their Two Stage Hand Held Knife Sharpener. Our knives are always dull, it seems. We really need a good knife that works! This looks like a great one.
I need good knives so much! There are many I would like to have. I would start with the Two Piece Asian Cook’s Set.
Our knives our very old. We really need new ones because we cook and bake a lot.

i really need a knife holder..this will work
Knife block – 7249-100
I like the 2 ¼” PEELING KNIFE – 4850 / 6 CM. This would come in handy for all the vegetables I peel. I would keep for myself for sure.

I would LOVE to own the FOURTEEN PIECE BLOCK SET – 9814-1, *sigh* as long as we are dreaming.
I would like the Wusthof Classic Chef 10″ inch knife in the Ikon finish!
Can I just trip out on the fact I just swooned over a knife block? Who knew I was so passionate about kitchen knives!!!! Hahaha. I fell in love with the 36 piece knife block set. Until this moment I didn’t know how pathetic my current set was.
I want the kitchen shears. I never had aNY. iI use regular scissors in the kitchen…UGH
Looks like high end quality knives. Beats what I have at home. I would also love Kitchen shears – 5557
I like the 2 ¼” PEELING KNIFE – 4850 / 6 CM. This would come in handy for all the vegetables I peel. I would keep for myself
I would like to get Wusthof’s CLASSIC IKON Four Piece Steak Set. This knives are high quality and will last a lifetime. I want to replace our cheap steak knives because the wooden handles are cracking.
I was just at a friend’s house and I brought over a beautiful loaf of sourdough, but she did not have one decent knife to slice it with! She could really use the 9″ BREAD KNIFE – 4145 / 23 CM.
I really like the IKON Nine Piece Block Set – 9809. We could definitely use some nice, ne w knives. Ours are in pretty sad shape.
I also like their utility knife, Ikon 5″ looks the best for my kitchen. We dont’ have nice knives.
I would like one of their knife blocks. I have knife in my kitchen that are just laying around. They need a nice home and I would like a block for that.
The CLASSIC 8″ Vegetable Knife – 4563 / 20 looks like it is versatile and good for many of my chopping needs.
I have arthritis in my hands to smaller knives suit me better. Just like the one you have here. In their catalog I would love the TWO PIECE PREP SET.
I visited Wüsthof, and I would love to have the BBQ SET – 9883. Their knives sound like really great quality as well. I’d love to try this one!

I would love to try any of their knives! I especially like the 10″ Cook’s Knife from the Pro collection. It looks like the perfect size! Here’s a fourth sentence to be certain I’ve typed enough.
I would love to try one of their handheld knife sharpeners. I lost mine so I could use a replacement.
I would love the 8 inch chefs knife. It looks very similar to my favorite knife that somehow got lost in our last move.
I would also really love to have the Wusthof Stainless Steel Steak Knife Set with Rosewood Case. I like that they come with a case. When you store your steak knoves with all of your other cutlery they get dull and nicked much quicker.
Would love to have the 10″ Cook’s Knife! This would be a great addition to my kitchen utensils! Love the Wusthof products!
8″ COOK’S KNIFE, HOLLOW EDGE
Vegetable knife looks super helpful in the kitchen. I can see myself using this for a lot of kitchen needs! These knifes look long lasting – which has been my main problem.
I would like to try the Santoku Asian’s Cook Set. I don’t own any nice knife sets so I would love to try these out. I enjoy cooking chinese/asian food so it would be nice to use these knives to cut up the meats and veggies.
I love that there are lots of videos that teach knife skills. I think my husband would love to know they are there. I will make sure he visits so he can learn. He really wants to have better knife skills.
I would love to try the 2 ¾” PEELING KNIFE – 4062. I really have a hard time finding a knife that I like. Looking at their site, they have some wonderful products.
I love their serrated knife options. We’ve been trying to eat more healthy and I make a lot of salads. The serrated salad knife would be very helpful. I always have the best of luck with serrated knives in general.
I would like to try the Knife-Sharpener – 4348. I have some knives that need sharpening. This looks like it could do the job. And seems easy to use.
I am interested in a good butcher knife. Others I have tried are either too thick to do a good job or are too flimsy to make a clean cut. I need a strong butcher knife that holds it’s edge.
I like the Two Piece Paring Knife and Shears. The scissors have a contoured handle so it’s less tiring to hold. The paring knife has perfect balance and a full tang, so is sturdy. The paring knife is the knife I use the most in my kitchen for cutting fruits, veggies and cheese.
I like the EXTRA WIDE PARING KNIFE – 4089 / 10.
I like the 8″ vegetable knife.

Fantastic brand. Hard to pick one item I’d like to try. I wouldn’t mind the FOUR PIECE STEAK KNIFE SET.
I like the 7″ Cook’s Knife. It is a all-purpose knife that would be great in the kitchen. It can also handle heavy duty tasks.
I like the two piece prep set, classic ikon. Wusthof is an amazing brand! I have a couple of their knives and just love them!
I would like the Wusthof Classic Chef 10″ inch knife in the Ikon finish! need a new knife in my kitchen
I would love the vegetable knife. I make a lot of dishes with veggies, so this would be . Thank you for the chance.
I would love to have the Chefs knife. I do a lot of what I like to think is gourmet cooking and that would help.
Most of the knives I have were wedding presents I got in 1989. I don’t cook much these days and part of the reason is because it’s such a chore to cut and chop. I should look into getting a knife sharpener! The TWO STAGE HAND HELD SHARPENER – 2922 looks like a good one.
I like the IKON Nine Piece Block Set – 9809. We could definitely use some nice, new knives. Our current knives are ancient
I would love to have the KNIFE-SHARPENER – 4348
The wusthof cooks knife would be great. It would be very useful in the kitchen! Love it!

I would like the Knife-Sharpener 2927
Wusthof Classic Ikon Blackwood 3″ Flat Cut Paring Knife w/ Hollow Edge
I’d love the 4 piece Cheese Knife Set for our household. I never really thought we ate enough cheese to make specialized knives worth it but now that we’re all on low-moderate carb diets there’s just a lot more cheese being eaten. I think the soft cheese knife would be nice because I love a very, very ripe and runny Brie and it can be so hard to cut with any knife. And the hard cheese shaver would be great for Parmesan cheese and other hard cheeses.
I would like to try the Knife-Sharpener – 4348 . It seems like our knives are always dull. This sharpener looks like it would be easy to use.
It would be nice to have knives that serve different purposes. Since we eat a lot of fish, I was thinking of a fillet knife. A good example would be the fillet knife with the leather sheath protector.
While I love Wüsthof knives and would really be happy to try any of them, I’d most like to try the 10″ COOK’S KNIFE – 4862 / 26 CM. I have an 8 inch knife, but I’d like to experience a Wüsthof professional series knife that is a bit bigger. My 6 and 8 inch chef’s knives see a lot of action – really I do about everything with them.
The Santoku knives are really nice. I’d also love a 9″ chef’s knife. The 14 piece knife block set is a wonderful choice as well.
They have such wonderful products. The website has some great tips on it as well. The CULINARY SCHOOL KNIFE BAG is on my wishlist.
Thank You for the giveaway…we like the SALAD KNIFE, has an extra wide blade and deep serrated edge; easy to scoop up your prepped veggies.
I like the grand prix II 5″ boning knife! It would be perfect for when I’m dealing with venison. It’s difficult getting the meat between the tendon’s and off the bone, esp when making jerky!
I’d like the Scissor Set – 5500. We have a bad habit of using the same scissors for every task and thus the scissors become useless for any task. It would be great to have a scissors for each task that we could isolate for that task only.
I want to try the CLASSIC 4 1/2″ Steak Knife. I really need new knives. This looks like a quality knife.. All of their products look amazing.
Wusthof is known for being a prestigious cutlery brand. I am partial to santoku knives. The really difficult part is narrowing down which handle is the one I’d like most. I think the choice for me is between the akon and the classic akon style. This is a gorgeous knife and i know it would make short work of vegetable chopping.
Another knife we could use around here is the Ikon 8″ cooks knife. Plus a new knife sharpener is always good to have around the house. Cooking is made much easier with a quality knife which can be sharpened and last for many years.
Other than the knife reviewed in this article, I would like the KNIFE BLOCK – 7251-5. I am currently without a good place to keep my knives . I have them in my drawer and it is both unsafe and inconvenient.
I would like to try the IKON 4 ½” Utility knife. Thanks for the giveaway!
I constantly bake homemade bread, so I would absolutely love their Bread Knife. But frankly all of their knives are of such high qualitY that owning any of them would be amazing!
I would love to get a really good Wusthof Chef’s Knife- this is the most important knife in the kitchen, and key to learning good knife skills. I would use it to chop and slice all of my prep work.
