I have a real soft spot for personalized items and love integrating family photos to the home décor. I believe that a photo says more than a million words and a well-made gift using photos of your love ones that you can add to your home, gives a great and certainly one of a kind present.
Why use photos as a way to decorate your home
Special moments and events captured on a photo, tells a story and when you manage to use those moments and make them into photos and use those photos to decorate, you can transform a room effortlessly into some personalized decor.
How to use photos to decorate your home
There are infinite ways in which you can use photos to decorate your home.
Choose a special event or moment or simply different events of your kids, parents, significant other or even your pet and decide the best way to display it:
Single photos
Collage
One size
Different sizes
Are just some of the options you have.
The next step would be to decide where do you want your photos displayed…I have created different focal points throughout the house and have used all of the above options in different rooms and have been looking for another way to display the latest family photos.
Costume blankets
One way I have not used before as a way to display photos and that is actually a great way to do it is to use blankets…Yes, personalized blankets that uses photos to decorate and can be used as a throw are actually very handy.
I love to snuggle with my kids and watch TV with them and what better way to stay cozy than using a blanket that reminds me of moments with them.
In this opportunity I had a professional take the photos, but I have thousands of photos on my phone (no exaggeration), and I am positive I am not the only one snapping photos of my kids on a daily basis. So what better way to give some of those photos life and use them to create a cozy blanket that will be part of your daily life and décor.
By the same token and as much as I would love to spend the time using those photos for various projects, I am a busy mom and have no free time to spare.
A lot easier than I had expected
Creating a custom blanket using photos that you can import from your phone, computer, Facebook, or even Instagram is a lot easier than what I would have ever anticipated.
As a matter of fact, I was able to create a beautiful personalized woven blanket in just a couple of minutes. Easy peasy and hassle free, no joke when I say any one can make a beautiful blanket using the Collage.com tools to make your designs.
I am in love
There are different options and materials you can use to create your custom blanket and can choose different sizes and photo amounts.
One or one hundred
You can choose to make your custom blanket with a single photo and up to one hundred depending on the design. The beauty of it is that all you need to do is select size, select design, and the number of photos you want to add to your blanket.
Once your photos are uploaded, you have the choice to change the background, effects, add a quote, or even to monogram your blanket to make it even more unique.
If I have to be honest, all I did was add the photos to the design and barely touched the way they arranged them. As a matter of fact, I loved the way they positioned the photos and decided not to add any quotes or anything as I thought the blanket looked amazing just the way it was.
What did I get?
A beautiful and cozy blanket featuring 20 of my favorite photos printed in sharp detail on one side of a 100% woven blanket that beautifully showcases my photos.
I got it in just a few days and absolutely love it!
