As we get older, there are the typical telltale signs of aging, we see it all over our face when the laughter lines turn into wrinkles. But as we get concerned about the fact that we are aging, we tend to just go for the superficial reasons, and not the underlying causes. So, what are the real reasons that our entire body is aging?

 

Poor Posture

Do you remember when your mother would tell you to sit up straight? When you think about everything feels a bit heavier as you get older, and your shoulders can tend to slump forward. It can be something that affects our whole body, and gradually once one part of our posture decides to start slumping, the rest of the body naturally follows. We can do simple things to help for remind us to retain good posture, this could be something as simple as shoe insoles, which forces us to walk upright, but it also gives us the support our legs needs, which will help us to keep that straight line that is the backbone of good posture.

 

Hormone Imbalance

As we get older, our sex hormones decline, and as menopause rears its head, the hormones estrogen testosterone, and progesterone decline, resulting in fatty deposits around the belly. Commonly known as the middle-age spread, this is something that you might think is not controllable, but as long as you begin to notice the signs early on, you can make healthy alterations in your diet to avoid that middle-age spread.

 

A Sedentary Lifestyle

As we get older, we, in some ways, get lazier. We feel that we’ve been working hard enough for so long that we are long overdue a sit down. But with this feeling of wanting to chill out on occasion means that unhealthy snacks, and lack of exercise more commonplace. Very simply, it’s all about keeping on top of your eating habits and getting a bit of exercise now and again. You don’t have to run a marathon constantly as long as you and take the appropriate exercises to fight the signs of aging in your body, resistance training is a very good one, then you will feel the benefits. There is research into the Mediterranean diet being the most efficient for people who get older, and this is due to the number of healthy fats, as well as the high amounts of vegetables, and it is beneficial to get on this diet as you will feel healthy as a result. It certainly helps that it’s a tasty diet too!

 

The other big reason your body ages is something that we all suffer from nowadays, stress. Taking the opportunity to address your stress triggers will benefit you in so many ways. Stress has such an impact on our health, but it also impacts our outlook on life, and you can easily minimize the stress by socializing or exercising. And yes, as our body ages, we can feel more anxious about the fact we’re getting older, but by having a healthy and happy outlook on life, this will certainly help.
