One of the biggest challenges when traveling long distances with kids is to keep them entertained….I think you will agree with me that an unhappy kid in a car during a long trip can make the trip feel way longer than what it really is, so I knew when we decided to do the road trip to Ohio that keeping the ladybug occupied during the car ride was going to be one of my priorities. I searched high and low for ways to keep my little bug happy and I packed lots of books and activities for her….One thing that was a must was a device in which she could watch her favorite DVD’s.

 We recently got a new family car, but since we got the base model, a DVD player was not included. I knew that a DVD player was a good idea, not only for the road trip but also for shorter trips when we are in town…While I do own an iPad, I do not usually bring it in car rides, I did for this trip, but it is not something I want to do when we are back home.

 An iPad is not in everyone’s budget right now, so a great alternative is a DVD player which is way more inexpensive! The Audiovox 9 inch swivel screen portable DVD player is the perfect on the go device.

 The DVD player features a 9 inch TFT display, swivel screen with a very practical 270 degree rotation, and an internal rechargeable Li-polymer battery that lasts about 4 hours….The very first thing I need to say about the DVD is that it is laid out so that it is very easy to operate….even by my 5 years old daughter.

The 9 inch swivel screen portable DVD player has an AV Output to most TV’s, HI-FI stereo speaker for great sound delivery and a really bright, great quality LED TFD Display. You can find most of the control buttons on the top of the right hand side of the unit. On the bottom you will find a large round wheel with the rewind and fast forward options.

The rest of the buttons that include the power, audio outlet and power charger are on the side of the unit. One of my very favorite features of this DVD player is for sure the swivel screen that allows you to rotate the screen 270 degrees! The unit is fairly light and compact and as I mentioned very user friendly.

 The Audiovox 9 inch swivel screen portable DVD player also features 640 x 234 resolution, 3.5mm headphone jack, Audio/video output, disc playback: DVD, CD, MP3, JPEG, and includes an AC adapter, a very handy and must have DC car adapter and a remote control. I must say that I am quite impressed with quality of the image and sound on this unit. Of course, that is something that I would expect with a good brand name like Audiovox.

One other thing I really like about the unit and I made mention of it before is the fact that the internal battery lasts for up to four hours, so you do not have to worry about running out of battery while watching a movie. It gives you freedom to move from one room to the next without dragging the charger along….I really like this feature as my daughter usually moves around a lot and she likes to lay down in her bed or her little sofa…..And sometimes she starts in one point and ends up in another….A 4 hours rechargeable battery gives me the peace of mind as I do need to worry about her having her unit plugged into an outlet while she is using it if I am not in the same room (you can never be too cautious with kids and electricity).
