Exfoliating is the elimination of the oldest dead skin cells on the skin’s outermost surface and there are many benefits to the process, that is if you are interested in a healthier and younger looking skin…There are many products that can be used for exfoliation but you need to choose carefully as not all of them work the same.
Keep in mind, that the manual and chemical exfoliants should not be used more than once or twice a week, while electric exfoliants are usually gentle enough that they can be used on a daily basis.
Lots of women (myself included), get caught in life’s daily activities and tend to neglect this important beauty procedure that can be done at home. Some other women go the extra mile and have this done with a professional…I love those spa sessions, but the reality is that they can be costly, so I was beyond thrilled when I found DermaFlash.

Created by Dara Levy, a Chicago-based former spa owner, the device is basically DIY dermaplaning (dermaplaning is the hottest procedure right now and it is an effective method of exfoliation that involves using a 10 gauge scalpel to lightly scrape off the top layer of dulling dead skin cells in order to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion and that is usually done once a month and costs around $180.00 per session).
What DermaFlash promises you is to help you remove the dead cells and get rid of the excess of peach fuzz that a lot of people do not even know they have but that makes a huge difference in the way your skin looks when you remove it!
The scale down process with DermaFlash can be used once a week and it is actually very easy to do. You start by cleansing your face and then move the device slowly around your skin, do not worry, is it is pain free and you do not feel anything but a soft and even soothing vibration.
There were a few things that concerned me about using this device and hurting myself while using it was the main one, but the truth is that DermaFlash is designed so you can’t go too deep or abrade your skin thanks to its built–in safety feature which is certainly a relief.
Another thing that concerned me and I think is a fair fear, was my facial hair growing back darker or faster, so the first thing I did after getting the device was look for those subjects and of course I was happy to learn that the brand assures you will not have any of these issues, so after getting the peace of mind I needed I went on with the treatment which I have done 3 times now and so far no problems at all!
The price of the refills was another concern, the DermaFlash comes with 6 DermaFlash edges (blades), so how much are the refills?
Not as much as I have feared as the refills which includes the Prep Cleanser 25 ml/.8 fl oz, Soothe Hydrator 25 ml/.8 fl oz and 6 DermaFlash Edges which will give you 6 treatments (one per week), for only $39.99 which is just a fraction of what you would pay at a spa…Not too shabby!
I love the ease of use and the fact that you can use your device in any direction and don’t have to worry about following the hair growth direction…Fun fact is that the device is shaped as a humming bird and it is the only bird that can fly forward, backwards, sideways, upside down and hover in midair…It is also the company’s logo.
Please note that you need to fully charge the unit before the first use and the brand recommends that you fully charge the device at least once a month…For the first use, I let it charge overnight which is what I do with any device that needs to be charged so I do not have to worry about it not being completely charged.

One of the most interesting things that I learned is that the Dermaflash only has to be used once per week. I really like that because I get so busy that using it once a week would be very easy to fit into my routine.

I learned that this device also removes excess “peach” fuzz from your face..? I have never used an exfoliator that did this. It makes me happy to know that it will not cause it to grow back thicker or darker, which has always been a huge concern of mine. I just recently started removing the fuzz from my upper lip because I was so worried it would grow back like man’s mustache! Now I’m even more excited to try this! My sister, who is a single mother of 2, comes over to use my exfoliator quite often so I would definitely share it with her. Mine is only a spinning brush, but works pretty well.
