I am known as a lightweight went it comes to drinking. As a matter of fact, my husband says he never knew anyone with lower resistance to alcohol.
Not really a drinker
When I was younger, I was never interested in alcohol and actually disliked most spirits. I still do even now. But I do enjoy a cocktail or wine, even if I can only handle one glass.
Wine, however, was the last drink I got used to, and I must say that it took me a while.
New traditions
It was not until I moved to Spain that I really decided to give the wine a chance. (Spanish people really love their wine.) Even then, I used to mix it with a lemon soda.
Wine and lemon soda is a very popular drink during the summertime in the south of Spain called into de Verano (summer red). It is tasty and refreshing, and because it is diluted, it does not hit as hard as regular unmixed wine would, which was great for me.
Unfortunately, I have never been able to find Fanta Limon anywhere outside Spain. But I still wanted to give the wine a chance because it is easier to pop open a bottle of wine than mix a cocktail with different ingredients and steps to follow.
A Glass of Wine with Dinner
Because I really learned to enjoy a nice glass of wine with dinner every now and then, my husband and I usually have a couple of wine bottles in stock. Whenever the husband and I feel like adding a nice touch to dinner, we open a bottle of wine.
Wine Wasted
The only problem with this scenario is that we never finish the bottle if it is only the two of us and we don’t have any guests joining for dinner.
This has happened one occasion and resulted in the leftover wine going bad and down the drain.
I tried a couple of wine preservers on the market, but none of them seemed to preserve the original wine flavor.
While I am not a wine connoisseur, I can tell when something doesn’t taste quite right.
My new discovery
