Stepping out of my comfort zone
It’s cold outside and snowing in many parts of the country right now, and I might even get a sweater out of the closet this week. Sorry, folks up north.
I know it is child play here in Florida compared to you guys. None the less, the cold weather brings a big drop when it comes to working out.
Go figure, people do not feel like battling snow to go to the gym! The good news is that you can always opt for working out at home.
Let’s be real. Even working out at home takes some will power, and I am one of those who think about it a million times before actually starting to work out.
I have come to the conclusion that a fun routine always has a better chance of getting done, so I have made it a point to get some good and engaging music (no music, no go).
0nce the music part is settled, it is time to come up with a routine. I have tried many different programs and routines, and my latest addition is, without a doubt, one of my favorites.
I added some whirls to my routine!
Yep, you read that right. I found this super neat balance board that is quite different from any I have seen before, and I mean to tell you that it is a great find!
The Concept of the Whirly Board
This balance board was created with the intent of providing an enjoyable and challenging method of learning and practicing skills that translate directly to all board sports. The reality is that you can do a lot more than that with these boards.
I by no means know how to skateboard, but I am dying to learn. I am, however, not crazy about the idea of going flying off the balance board, so I loved the idea of practicing on one of these before I even try to get on a skateboard.
Once I started using the balance board, I realized it has a lot of potentials, and it helps me improve my center of balance, board control, and even agility.
The Whirly Board helps you to learn the proper mechanics of initiating and completing rotational tricks while gaining comfort and spatial awareness throughout the spin. Let’s be honest.
You will not catch me doing tricks on a skateboard at 44, but I will love going for a ride with my daughter, who loves her board!
I have also learned that I can include my Whirly Balance Board in my workout routine.
Why would I do that? Well, it helps with core strengthening, and the best part is that anyone can use one of these boards, even an uncoordinated gal like yours truly. My 12-year-old loves it, I love it, and even the little guy loves getting on it with mom’s help.
