A heatwave is a period of excessively hot weather, which may be accompanied by high humidity, especially in oceanic climate countries. While definitions vary, a heatwave is usually measured relative to the usual weather in the area and relative to normal temperatures for the season” (Wikipedia).
I am sure that if you’ve seen the news, you have probably heard about the heatwave that has been going through Europe reaching crazy three-digit temperatures. Yes, I said crazy. Lyon, France, reached a scorching 115°F just a few days ago. And I was complaining about our 98°F temperature here in the south of Florida!
All of this brings me to the point of today’s post: are you drinking enough water? Water intake is very important all year round for several different reasons:
- Vital for kidney and other bodily functions
- Lubricates the joints
- Delivers oxygen throughout the body
- Boosts skin health and beauty
- Regulates body temperature
- Needed for the digestive system
- Cushions the brain, spinal cord, and other sensitive tissues
- Boosts performance during exercise
- Vital for weight loss
These are just a few of the many reasons why keeping hydrated and drinking water throughout the day is so important.
Keeping Track of Your Water Intake
While there is not a fixed amount of how much water we should drink in a day, most experts agree that it should be at least eight cups a day.
There are different ways to keep track of your water intake, and many rely on different apps, I personally don’t like any of the apps I’ve tried so far and prefer something less tech-oriented, such as these Zak Designs Hydratrak Water Tracker Bottles. The double-wall vacuum insulation keeps drinks cold, and the bottles come in different designs.
Importantly, these bottles feature elastic bands that can be moved up or down as you drink your water and fill up the bottle, giving you a quick visual of your water intake and making it easy to track fluid consumption.
Inside or Outside
For the outdoors, I love the water bottle. If I am indoors, the Hydratrak Tumbler with Straw is my container of choice. It offers the same great features like the water bottle but in a stylish tumbler.
If you prefer something with a simpler vibe, the Alfalfa Insulated Stainless Steel Tumbler with double-wall vacuum insulation keeps hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold for an easy grab-and-go option.
For the Geek in You
Yep, I admit I am a sucker for superheroes and action movies, and what better way to get my geek on than with a Captain Marvel Insulated Stainless Steel Travel Tumbler?
I like my cold drinks cold my hot drinks hot, and drinks will stay at your preferred temperature for longer in this tumbler, and the vacuum insulation also prevents condensation from making a mess. It’s great for car rides and running around town!
How do you stay hydrated?
