Happiness comes in different shapes and sizes

Every end of the year, people make lists of the goals they want to achieve for the new year, some of them are realistic while others are not. None the less, everyone wants the new year to bring better things than the year that just passed. I am, of course, one of those people that want to make changes and improve my lifestyle and health among other things.

I usually have a list of about 5-10 items that I want to change or improve, you know the normal things that most people have on their lists… Go to the gym, lose weight, learn something….But this year, I have made a point to include other things that would make me better as a person and let go of frustration, stress, and anger because lets face it, those are good for nothing and only make you bitter.

Enjoy what you have
Because no one knows how long you will have things and people that you take for granted, enjoy the simple things in life and create moments to treasure later.

Take one thing at a time and try not to worry. Someone told me once there are two kinds of problems, the ones that you can solve and the those you can’t. So why worry about things that can’t be solved or things that are out of your hands?

Step back and take a deep breath
If I have to be honest, I tend to be jumpy and quick to react, but this time around, I want to be calmer and prioritize. I want to find the time to enjoy my kids, while my family and kids are still little and while other family members are still around.

Stay away from energy suckers and negative influences
There are two types of people, the people that lift you up, and those that take your energy away. Identify those who are negative and run away! You are better off without them.

Treasure your friends
It is better to have 2 really good friends than 1,000 fake ones. I am the type of person that would do ANYTHING to help a friend, I am there no matter what.

I have a few friends who are more than family to me, that are in my heart even though we are thousands of miles apart. On the other hand, I have a few people that would say they are my friends, but I believe that actions speak louder than words.

I want more
I want more time with my family, more time with the people I love and that love me too,  I want to go hiking, I want to go to the park, I want to take long walks, I want happiness to be a priority in my schedule. I want less drama, heartache, and hard feelings because there are beautiful people around me that might not be there tomorrow. I prefer to spend my time and energy with them.
